US Blue Side (Stationary Planes)
« on: January 11, 2013, 09:07:25 PM »

I hope I can make this request pretty simple.

I was just wondering if anyone that worked on the Forgotten Countries mod to please enable the US for the Stationary Aircraft lists for the Blue Faction. This is because when I setup an airfield to be Nato vs USSR I always have to use a different country to represent the US for the stationary aircraft.

Ditto................. a USAAC, and USAF, USN, USMC would be nice, but Stars and Bars are definitely needed.

Cheers

I'd settle for the ability to put skins on static planes. Gets a bit time consuming to change the defaults, though that does work well.

I am making mostly east/west scenarios as well, and encounter such a bit.

4.12 patch will let us do that, so in a year we should be able to do it in DBW....LOL

Plus the Formation Mod............... looks a lot like Frogs Formation Mod, but I have been whinning for that to be included in a DT patch for quite a long time.  I'm really glad they were listening......

Cheers and Thanks DT

+1 on this request, not sure if possible though.

If you enable separate USA Postwar country in config files (I don't remember exactly what was that, regiments.ini probably, use SFS extractor on archive containing decals and search for FC mod components if you're interested) it results in all planes using generic USA markers with international default skin version, resulting in US planes looking ugly. Solving that would require rewriting respective classfiles for all planes using different deffault skin for us nation to include na nation, which would be pain in ass to do, it's easier to just branch na from us in FC. With 4.12 coming and seemingly better relations between community modders and TD (and hopefully easier adaptation of mods) I doubt anyone would take this. Especially that it'd require a large scale informational campaign to make other modders write their classfiles for US planes to support FC. Remember that some of guys on Aviaskins may understand what we write here just as much as we understand what they write there.  ;D

As for other blue US forces, I would be all for it as well, but only if someone modified the country selection for planes in FMB interface, bc currently, with lack of search function or country>regiment tree like in QMB it requires to scroll (often several times) through a shitload of regiments just to find a country we're looking for (especially when we look for 1 regiment country). Until this works better I can live with only USAF on blue side.

EDIT: Solved gramar nazi attacks, sorry for that... I've slept 4 hours of last 48...

Yeah, having to scroll for a "while" looking for the correct nation's squadrons is 2cd only to the changing numbers assigned to objects that make the PDFs some guys make for them OBSOLETE AS SOON AS A NEW VERSION COMES OUT AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH..........whew, I feel alot better now.  :P

The changing alliances after WW2 kinda make it useful for all countries to be assignable to blue or red. Depends on the time period and ones perspective. I had to assign Italian nationality to B-29s yrs ago in my 1948 cmpn in 409 (long before the Tu-4 became availible) to enable placing them on a Soviet base in a ground attack misn. Had to look kinda closely, but it woulda been nice to have red stars on them.

ALSO, (cough) said insignia on static planes is left off the top wings, like the RAF and Isreali C-47s among others. Would be a bit more realistic if they had that......even though I realize that may be a bit time consuming. Thanx again for all the great work you guys do for us.    8)
