TrackIR mod
« on: January 15, 2013, 06:48:35 AM »

Hi,

new here so not sure this is the appropriate section. I installed DBW, set it up and enabled the TrackIR 6dof mod in JSGME. when using the trackir z-axis it's a blend of z movement and FOV change.
i.e. move your head forward, you get closer to the gunsight.
move forward more, you change your FOV.

I wonder if there's a mod to use the tir z-axis purely for FOV change? like it is in other flightsims ie. DCS, Falcon4 or Strike fighters2. I did forum searches but couldn't find a correct one...

oh, why not just set the sensitivity of the other axis to zero?

i went into the deep end and edited the hookpilot.class of the 6dof mod and got the desired result. now my tir z-axis controls only FOV zoom.
now searching a way to remove the 90deg pitch up limit of TIR. mouse move limit is removed but seems tir restriction is defined somewhere else but where...

Do335 I know exactly what you're talking about and just asked the question in the trackir forums (no response yet).

However, I want to go the opposite direction:  no FOV change, only smooth zoom as you lean in.  Can you tell me if there is a solution and how to do it?

i followed the java class modding tutorial on freeil2modding.com and extracted the classes. from there it's navigating in a maze... but the section that controls zoom begins with "private void headRoll(Aircraft aircraft)". i think to deleted the fov zoom there's only minor edit needed:

CmdEnv.top().exec("fov " + f3); <--delete unlined section

and do the same for f4, f5 and f6

but u can always fiddle some more if it's not good or to find the result that best fits personal preference

Thanks.

I actually managed to eliminate the FOV zoom by fiddling with the profile in TrackIR.  However, there is still a small segment that zooms very slowly despite the zoom rate I set in TrackIR, so it feels like a hiccup (or speed bump I guess), when you lean in.

Would the solution be to modify those files?
