Hi Slipper,
You're welcome and I will get the EAW chatter together for posting.
My workflow was: Record audio from the video in realtime using Audacity>>Save (export) as mp3>>convert to wav header with WaveMp3
Il2 doesn't read 'real' wav files, it only reads mp3's but they have to have the wav header, which is what the WaveMp3
converter adds.
The only fiddly bit is saving in a format that keeps the file small and that IL2 can read (5mb seems to be the top end) I used 22khz stereo and 64kbps for this one (all selectable when you export from Audacity).
I don't use beacons but would guess the file format for these has the same requirement.
I have also thought about using beacons like you suggest, I think it would work but the downside is that you would then have to add the beacons to every mission you wanted it to work in?
I can suggest an alternative which does work - I have created several 'inflight' sound folders and can access them via the console during a mission (using a similar method as described in the 'IL2 Flight Randomiser' mod to change radio nationalities, but I use shortcuts using script in the RCU file and bind to a joystick key). Then I can have some soundbytes from BoB film at the click of the button, or some rousing RAF march music when i get a kill or some 40's radio for the flight home or some BBC war reporting or Churchill speeches at the flick of a switch whilst flying.
Takes some setting up and of course it's not automatic to the context in your mission, you have to decide when you want to hear what, but I find it adds to the immersion
Regards,
M
