P-51 Racing modification
« on: February 06, 2013, 11:51:38 AM »

I'm a huge air racing fan :D and it would be nice to have an own racer variant of the P-51 Mustang like the F8F Racer. It has a different canopy and clipped wings. The top speed is somewhere near 500-505mph.
Few pics:

Here you can see the wings

There's a fair amount of air-racing online, at least there was a couple of yrs ago, usually hosted by some squadrons as part of thier flying. I participated a good bit, limited fuel of course, and you gotta watch the engine and prop pitch a bit. It was pretty exciting actually.

Sorry, but no. The aerodynamic and engine performance upgrades makes the plane more unstable and faster.

but you can not even gather data on said engines as they are all unique and stuff...
how to make a proper FM for an experimental plane that changes from season to season?

take a skin, get a racetrack and presto... ;)

Visual body panels haven't changed since the 80's.

FM's would only change once a year.

Skin + FM would be enough, no need to spend shitload of time for cosmetic changes of 3D

I dont think FM changes would be neccessary, 3d model editing of the canopy would make it look like One of those p-51 racers that are racing today. I would do it myself, But I dont know how to do it. We need this and a Nevada map and we can make our own reno air races.
ps. Sorry for my bad English, I hope you understand

That red Reno Racer mustang skin is pretty sexy... I like it.
