Been twice to the Dartmoor and South West England (also Cornwall) and enjoyed it. Visited the Dartmoor with good and hazy weather. :P And brought some downed German fighter bomber parts with me! Thanks to a former aeronautical engineer who had seen that poor crew crash as young boy.. :(
 
Apart Northern Germany and maybe California and Arizona (add: the Pacific  :P ) the places I would like to live if I could. ;)
Favourite town in Cornwall: Newquay.


Very amazing little town back then in '95.  :( Boy am I old!


As for me, I live in Western Germany, an awful town in the Cologne/Aachen area, only not half as stylish as Aachen.

I lived in Portsmouth during the 3rd year of my graduation and I really really love this city. I try to come back there as much as I can, and my new city (Caen) is just on the other side of the Channel, so I just have to take the fast ferry.

But since a few years I have moved a little more to the south,
a city called 's-Hertogenbosch - Duketown.


And yes; my current house is visible multiple times in this video.

Durdle Door looks somewhat idyllic Mr. Noakes. Inspired me to look for a dog-friendly hotel near there as we are moving one of my sons down that way for new job next week (DSTL Porton) so may wander down that way.
Was sea-sick in a rowing boat on Lulworth Cove once; not a good sailor, me......

Ran a pub in Boscombe once, (which is just on the out-skirts of Bournemouth).

The Ragged Cat.

We bought it when the previous owners got arrested for robbing a bank. They sat there in the bar, right in front of the pub's CCTV camera, having a pint. Then put on crash helmets and left.

Twenty minutes later they returned, sat in front of the same CCTV camera and counted the money.

Half an hour later the police arrived, not very smart people.

We spent a lot of time and money cleaning up the place, opened it to the public and started to make some money, then the police arrived and apologised profusely before closing us down.

Turns out the archway at the side of the pub, which was part of the original coaching house, was condemned and due to fall down at any time.

Lost a lot of money there.

It was really nice just to walk down the hill to the beach any time I wanted though.

If you ran the Ragged Cat you've almost certainly served me with pints of foaming ale  ;D
Although mate, what did the advertising blurb say when they where trying to sell it to you ? That pub has been pretty rough in all it's guises.........
It certainly was when I started going in there in the 70's , got very bad in the 80's when Boscombe was awash with smack.......Although it's a lot better now and I think your old place is now a Polish deli
Mind you, the original Ragged Cat looks just the place to find a fair few drunks and vagabonds even in the 1850's  :D
