**Solved** help with loading map
« on: February 07, 2013, 11:27:21 PM »

I've created maps before but that was last year, so i went to create a map after a long time following the the guide by kevin and everything is fine but when I went to load it up in il2 it didn't show, is there something new with map making in 4.10 because I only use to make maps for 4.09, I using DBW 1.71 with 4.10.1m

any help would be great

i haven't done maps in a whil myself, but when you say 'it doesn't show' what d'you mean exactly?
is there not an error message at the bottom of the FMB screen?
if you display the log in FMB(Shift+Tab), there should be some errors showing, towards the bottom...

not sure really. What i mean is that it doesn't show when I go to load it in Full mission builder so no error appears I do know that it's in the game as I made a mistake with the all.ini before with file, I forget to finish the ini with load.ini and it crash at 70%.

Blazing-sometimes in DBW it is simply the map's list, you have several lists for maps and the allocation can be a bit off the hook at times.
If you have all objects for the map, all textures, best in a dedicated MapMods folder, the correct all.ini file, it should load, except it is hitting something with the Variable Temperature mod, if you have it, I would disable all maps you intend to alter in its folder in #DBW (IIRC).

Cheers :D

K so I gave up on the 4.10 version so I went to see if it loaded with my 4.09 version and it worked.

lol, well, the last time i worked on maps was still on my old 409 map version, which i've since discovered that i accidentally deleted after a recent hard drive consolidation....
i've not tried modding maps with 4.10, onwards....
maybe a good point for me to derail the thread slightly, and ask a mapper in the know what, if any, differences there are between modding maps with 4.098 and later versions?

There has been a small bit of changes in the FMB but nothing to prevent anything from working or being installed
Use the newer Bldconfig.ini for Unlocking FMB in 4.10 and up
edit it,the same as before to unlock the FMB

don't try using an older/4.09 edited, Bldconfig.ini to try unlocking the FMB in 4.10 and up games

other than that, unlocked FMB is the same with a few new features
maps, textures and editing the all.ini remain the same, as in any modded version of IL-2

maps and textures are not version dependent
as long as you install the map correctly
and install the textures needed correctly
along with any objects needed or wanted, again installed correctly
correct all.ini edited correctly and in proper location within the game
then the map will work guaranteed, in any version of the game

edit the Bldconfig.ini  to unlock the FMB and that's it folks

I have Unlocked working fine in 4.11
and it has worked in ever IL-2 Patch version before, as I have had ever patched version stock and modded as they came out
and it has never prevented me from installing or editing maps

Remember....
Unlocked FMB is just unlocking the Mission Builder FMB
It is how the game developers use the FMB to develop the game
so of coarse it is going to work in ever version of the game

Cheers

Boomer, thanks mate
i have just discovered i have a similar problem with my DBW install...
after recently starting from scratch, i hadn't added any new maps until today.
i tried agracier's new Lost Islands, as well as Bombsaway's retex'd Wake map.
now, i am pretty familiar with the map process, having made one myself in the distant past, lol - but for some unknown reason, the new maps do not appear anywhere on my map list in FMB...
i have followed the basic install guidelines - textures correct inside _Tex folder, map folders in Maps, and the load entries in the all.ini.
afaik, that's it....have i missed something?
as i said, everything loads up, there's no crashes...
the newly installed maps simply do not appear on the list...
and that's about as far as i can go with error reporting, as well.... ;)
any ideas?

edit: yet again, i discover my error just after posting for help. ain't that just the way, lol  :D
okay, i simply forgot about a beta school project i'm helping to test, which happens to contain it's own all.ini......loading prior to the Mapmods one, and thus overriding any changes i make in the regular all.ini
...that's right, folks, a rookie error... ;D
blazing, check that you're not suffering from a similar issue.
a simple search of your mods folder for all.ini should quickly show what's what   ;)

all sorted, thanks fellas.      8)

Yup,I've done that before
playing around with jsgme with maps, I have forgotten to switch and had the game read the wrong all.ini  :D

good fun for the brain now and again  ;D
