Thanks for your reply, Mick.
Very appreciated.
Some hours ago I was reading this whole thread (again... *argh* ) trying to see if there's some hidden info somewhere and, lo and behold... reply #310 on page 26.
I placed the "SFS package" (two SFS files) in the main folder of the game as described there, then reactivated the soundpack in JSGME and, hey presto, it worked!
I was a bit confused if there was something else missing yet, but your reply have reinssured me.
Thank you!
The only "not-so-good" things that I found so far in this soundpack are that,
1) I hardly can hear the other aircraft around me (other than my own) from inside the cockpit
(could be more realistic, but it cut some of the immersion IMHO), and
2) like others have described already, to have sound in F3 (flyby) view, I have to keep pressed F2 + F3 keys.
I also noticed that it takes a lot longer to load the game now (whereas with Jivers's it was same as stock in that aspect) but I guess the trade off is acceptable.
As usual for any big compilation of sounds, some sounds are better than others (from what I tried so far), but it in general it is well done and certainly well recommended.
Being in the sound "business" myself, I consider it a very nice piece of work (nicely done!
) and it's staying in my installation of DBW!
PS: one thing that I'm noticing in IL2 is that mods installation info/documentation are not "friendly" (at all) to newcomers, very different to what I got (badly?) used to in other genres (sim-racing in my case) with all the "step-by-step" detailed hand-holding notes by modders. ...my next internal-war is now with the IL2 1956 mod installation... *sigh*
