Is it working with hsfx7? If it not, is it possible, to get the distant sound effects? I mean the rumbling sound of a far plane's engine or the thud shootings. That is my favourite part of the mod and the stock distant sounds are not really realistic :D

Yeah Atoka, looks like your not patched to 4.12.2m, if you were the Auto Updater would work and you will see in your Load screen 7.02

I did when i reinstalled the game weeks ago... When there wasn't installed hsfx yet the tock game was 4.12.2, installed hsfx, run auto updater, and the loading screen says 4.12.1 hsfxv7.0...

This is from Charlie Chap:

Quote
Hi Drewm3i,

I am afraid I don't have the Tiger sounds....although I can vaguely remember the format of it I think...

However...hsfx codebase is very similar  to Tiger's as that was what we based it upon.

You will probably get the best results if you remove all of Tigers java  because it is based on 4.11 and a lot of that DID change with 4.12 and  the code included in hsfx 7.0 does include  most of tigers changes but is based upon 4.12.

So look at Tigers sounds installation before adding it .
You will find the java  (files like  00f164b0fd5c4b6c...)  in  a Files folder either in his jsgme switcher option or  in a Mods folder (I don't know which format he used.) Best to not use any of it.

ALTHOUGH keep his .preload  + also you need to copy the .rc file from hsfx 7.0 files  and add the relevant entries for Tigers sound archives  at the bottom (bottom takes priority).

Tiger also based his work on custom FM's with some unique sound presets...
HSFX 7.0 will almost certainly not load with the old buttons file (Files/gui/game/buttons ) so find that in his setup and delete it.

But many of those fm presets are likely to be the same as the current hsfx ones so if you mount his sound system SFS files below the current hsfx ones in the .rc file.....you probably will hear most of it without code or FM clashes....any that are not the same will drop through to the underlying hsfx ones.
(which were Tiger samples mostly anway....hsfx sound is basically 'Tiger sounds lite' with more of an in cockpit emphasis because it does cause a performance hit with older machines or without dedicated sound cards...so we could never adopt it as default.)

Good luck anyway. Its a shame that Tiger is no longer supporting his work .....but people have to do other things sometimes don't they.

So, what do we do? Delete class files?

... THX for reporting back, Drew3i ...  ;)

I must say that I don't really know what to think about Charlie's reply, first because since I don't use HSFX, then I can't try what he advises to do...  :(

... and then also because AFAIK, the "flyby bubble" that allows us to have, first the flyby sound of our own plane, then the flyby of all other planes (either wingmen or ennemy in pursuit) that enter that "bubble" is java coded, then if we delete all java class files I wonder what will be left of this very natural and realistic effect and all other UV3 sound effects ...  ???

Only guys who have HSFX can tweak UV3 in all directions in order, perhaps, to find a way to get it working with HSFX while keeping what makes the beauty (personal opinion) of UV3 ...  ;)

Yeah I hear you Mick. It's really just the gun sounds that are poor in HSFX. Everything else is adequate.
