Ian, look into a small program called Bright. It will reduce the skins from 24 bit to 8 bit IL2 compatable skins with no loss of texture resolution. If you can't find it, send me a PM, I'll upload it to my mediafire for you.

It's not an installable program, it's just a small exe with a batch file. Place 24 bit skins in the folder with the exe and bat file, and run the bat file. It will cycle through the skins and convert them to 8 bit without loss.

It runs fine on Win 7 64bit, I've used it since I got my new pc.  ;)

The Aerodrome was and old Red Baron 3D site.
I spent many hours there back in the day.
I am surprised that it is still up and running.
