The forestground texture (forest0 slot) is assigned to the ground uoon which lies the forest canopy.

The forestfar (forest2 slot) texture replaces the miltilayered forest with a simpler single layer when viewed beyond a certain distance (low alt or high). This transition is blended. The texture should be colored so that the transition looks as seamless as possible. This texture can be smaller in pixel count.
