Pretty much exactly the same thing for me except I've noticed different behaviors on different maps! But usually, I'm struggling to get it off the ground and climb without burning up the engines. (forget getting over a moderate sized mountain) I, too, have issues with the slow pull to one side or the other and sudden plunge to destruction. Until that occurs, flying is usually very stable.

RooMan, i've just tested using different maps, and it seems we have exactly the same issues.
the overheating/not being able to take off only occurs on certain maps.
on other maps, i can lift off at around 75% throttle with ease, and no problems with overheating.
exactly which maps, and what the reasons for this are, i have yet to figure out.
when i can get her to take off, the flying itself is pretty good fun. ;)

if somebody would like to compare, i have just tested on the SNARK Jungle map, and on Stalingrad Winter map.
I used the QMB Scramble mission for each map.
on the SNARK map, no go, i can't get her airborne without cooking the engines.
on the Stalingrad map, no problem, she takes off at around 70-75%, and flies easily.

I find it good to fly within its limitation , I can take off vertical with it but it is very heavy then, as said before it need forward speed to be able to manouvre.
The FM is the best I have seen so far on a chopper due to its realistic feel and heavy but stable ways.
It is by my honset opinion the best so far chopper

I have noticed the map has different affects as well. Also the loadout affects the flight as if they are too heavy but I'm sure Wasted and the guys will get it worked out. We just have to be patient. She's still a lot of fun to fly. Hey, the loss of power just gets us training for surviving crash landings. :)
This is still my favorite chopper to date. The other are great work too but this is still a lot of fun for me.

Isn't it supposed to be more realistic if the load out affects the flight? I mean, if it's power per weight/ratio we're talking about. In real life, the Mi-24 has to make a rolling lift when fully loaded on full throttle to get lift. I'm no expert but I'd say I'm quite surprised it's twin 2,200hp turbines can lift more than 4.2 tons with 8m (est.) long blades.

Different maps mean different temperature and preassure. If you could check each map's load.ini for preassure and temp values, would be nice.

well I can say that Mi-24 and Mi-8 had quite a big problems with engines in Afghanistan. They lost alot of power due to the hight temperatures and altitudes.
