The Chinese buildings have multiple floors, each with a little bit of roof sticking out. So we could create new house objects by raising some of the existing ones and then placing them on top of the originals to get a multi storey effect!

I've thought about that too but then again we have a raised version of existing objects. And we have already so many of them.
It would be great if a modder picks up the job for making a set of new objects. I think a house object is one of the most easiest, basic objects to start with.
But creating house objects have been requested many times.

Another source of understanding the village pattern in China is Flashearth.com. Similar to Google Earth.
Southeast  of Hengyang for example:

I have on my list of To-Do-Objects a few traditional Chinese and Japanese houses for Asian maps, and also
repaint the old versions which need some smaller details, but I have not gotten around to finishing the whole set.
I wish I had a lot of time available in my life to do more things for this fine game, but unfortunately I do not have.
I will try to finish it soon for you guys.

Yes indeed very nice Riptide  :D ;)

I have seen so many Chinese building structures for free on the internet

from the Forbidden City to Chinese ancient style towns.

It would be perhaps a half a life time trying to import them all into the game.

Cheers Kirby

wplusaf,

Given that I am from the U.S., I am happy to hear that my creations look the part :).

farang65,

If I could get my hands on just a few of the objects you refer to, it would be great.

Uufflakke,

I really like the village you put at the bottom of your post. Great work :)!

Cheers,

Riptide

I really appreciate everyone's interest and help with coming up with some new Chinese objects.  If new ones can be made then Riptide One can populate the map.  He requested to do that in the beginning and I appreciate that.  Yes, many of the larger communities in this region did have walls around them.

I am putting finishing touches to Map_T.  I added a few more agricultural textures to the load.ini to create more variety.

I added an airfield to the west of Kweilin and Chihchiang (modern Zhijiang -spelling??).  this can be used as one of the two airfields in that region that became serviceable in 1945 OR it can be used as a substitute for an airfield at Kunming.  Kunming is much farther to the west in real life but some players might want to have a Kunming af.

Some cities and airfields may or may not be in correct locations but I made it this way to make it more playable for IL2.  These maps can't be perfect anyway.  I hope everyone can understand that.

From the looks, Uuflakke has already modded some of the Slovakia houses by making them unpainted log plank.

I've not repainted the houses.
I selected them from the objects we already have in game like Slovakia and Crimea houses and one or two from the Moscow map objects.

Thanks for the correction. I guess those were the Moscow houses I saw.

Here are more pics to show new textures.
Changsha looking south...

Changsha is the major city south of Hankow and north of Hengyang.  The P-40 is of the Chinese-American Composite Wing CACW.  Its Chinese pilots were trained in Arizona, USA and the Wing was under the command of the 14th Air Force.
Changsha has a small emergency airfield.  Paoching does too.

Above Hsiangtan...

Hsiangtan is about halfway between Changsha and Hengyang.  At the top of the Ki-44 tail is Poaching (Shaoyang).  From April-June 1945 the Japanese battled at Paoching to cross over the mountain passes (straight above) to capture the airfield at Chihkiang.  The Japanese had already captured Hengyang, Lingling, Kweilin, and Liuchow bases but the Chinese held in the Paoching mountain passes and won their first major victory of the war against their enemy.

Above the Paoching battlefield...

The CACW also had bomb squadrons of B-25s.  The 14th AF played a significant ground attack role during the Paoching battles.

Suichuan airfield...

Suichuan was known as a forward "guerrilla" base for US planes until it fell in 1945.
