Foxy Lady II...*subtle sarcasm*

Before you all get fired up, this is just a 3d visual modification. So no more horse power, no less weight, no less drag. Just an ordinary P-51.

I'd like to try my hand at a contra rotating 51, but unless someone is willing to code it, it would be pretty much useless to just have the 3d.

Very nice !
If you decide to make the P51 contra-rotating "Precious Metal" here you can find basic blueprints.

Recently released Seafire Mk.47 use the contra rotating prop so maybe someone can help.

Thank you, but i would release this mod only on a two basis pledge:
-a separate slot, with proper racing FM (which i'm unable to do)
-categorically, no whatsoever weapon of any kind to be put on them

I agree no weapons should be added...

It would be a terrible dog fighter anyway... The "razorback" spine they added for aerodynamics works well for all out speed.... But is a step in the wrong direction as far as visibility in a battle.

To bad it couldn't be released in a "golden-age of flight" pack that had all different racers... And was seperate from war time planes.

redfox, if i could do the performance mods i'd be all over it, and a seperate slot is a must. however, drop tanks as a "weapon" wouldn't be inaccurate. there have been a few instances (transontinental and mojave) where some of the aircraft carried BIG drop tanks under the wings, i don't have a pic readily available, sorry.

barrett, that's true, on landing it's almost impossible to see the runway, not just because the canopies are lower but because the compound curves create a lot of distortion.

little something to stir the pot... the first and second place airplanes were doing over 500 mph for this race...

Pretty interesting mod RedFox, will love to fly it as a racer. I think elbarto is right about droptanks, seen the pics some time ago in a book IIRC. Maybe one day a 3d modeller will create some populated stands for Air Races, and some big pylons for those new air racers.

I'd love to see such a pack.
We could already have Rare Bear, as Gerd made that version with the little canopy, and he has done the F-2G too.

Doing a Super Corsair with aerodynamic windscreen wouldn't be too difficult. The P-51 i've done can be a stand in for the moment for different planes, like Miss Foxy Lady, Dago Red and Vodoo for examples.
I'd love to do Precious Metal, and most of all Miss Ashley II.

I thought there was already somewhere a Reno air races map? If what's missing are just pylons and stands, well...i think i could do them.

Make a populated stand and code it so that if a plane crashes nearby all the people in the stand run and dive in the dirt! LOL!

We can do that?!?! But LOL, that's an amazing idea! xD It its kinda sad, we lost the galloping ghost like that, most people didn't dolphin dive quick enough...

In Reno they have T6 Texan racers too. We can erase the pilot and give them some racing skins:
