P-47 M 56th FG 'Lanny' Lanowski
« on: March 25, 2013, 10:08:52 AM »

Hi to all,
I am new to this forum, I am currently playing IL2 and was directed to this forum for aircraft skins.
i am after any P-47 skins of the 56th FG 144 - 1945. My father was Witold 'Lanny ' Lanowski who had a very distinctive `nose' art on his P-47M. Is there anyone out there who can reproduce it for me? that would be magnificent if possible

regards

Hi and welcome, First of all, your request should be posted at the appropriate section, that is skinshop/skinrequest, so that skinners can see it. Second, a photo of your dad's aircraft, especially of its noseart (preferably in colour) would be more than helpful (and possibly inspiring too)...

thanks to those who moved this.
i would really hate to kick a newcomer's butt for not being able to read.
i am thoroughly pissed off for totally unrelated reasons, and i am afraid that anger will soon spill over into places where it shouldn't.
thanks, guys.
@ Krys, new guy or not, i do expect that anybody joining a new forum should at least be able to read before posting.
anyway, welcome to the site and hope you enjoy it. ;)

As a new member of this forum I do believe I have to respond to the threat of 'having my Butt kicked'
Firstly thanks for the response including the pics, I looked for the option to post pictures but the option was not there. I am no stranger to forums per se!
I will extend the olive branch of friendship and return the dummy you chose to spit out of your pram! If you wish to bar me from the forum feel free I will not be futher offended then I already am by your attitude and insults.
Fortunately my father taught me better manners than you have, and would strongly suggest you change the manner of your response to any further newcomers.
I have the greatest respect of all the WW2 enthusiasts who keep alive the memories but I don't like being insulted by them!

yes, indeed, feel free to ignore anything that we have posted in the forum for your benefit as well as ours.
the thing is, i am dealing with the same thing every single day now, day after day after day after day.......and i am now at the point where i have had enough.
when i am polite, which is 99% of the time, i am simply ignored.
yes, i, too, believe it or not, was taught good manners by my father, a retired naval admiral.
when i lose my manners, everyone gets pissed at me.
so, either way, i am the asshole.
as editor of this forum, you, and anyone else who chooses to ignore the easy to read instructions, please, feel free, go ahead and do as you like. you have my blessing.
it seems when i try to point out the same things to every new person, then i am insulting them.
i am retiring from this constant ignorance.
as i said, enjoy the forum, and i won't bother you, or anyone else, for that matter, again. ;)

Chill out! All Krys did was to post into the wrong section by mistake. Be reasonable and recognize that this was his second post on this forum so why should he know better. ;)
You and I could have easily made the same mistake back in the day.
Next time maybe just move the post to the correct section and forget about it.

Ok ok listen all you guys, my apologies for throwing in a frag grenade and strolling off. Lets all take a step back catch our breath and start again.
I sympathise with you from the point of view of moderating a forum! Been there, done that got the DVD and T shirt!
So back to the original post. If the skin of my fathers jug is a possibility that would be fantastic and as the son of the pilot I would endorse the skin. Amazingly there is still a debate about the correct colour. I am in email contact with another 61st FS pilot Russ Kyler who flew wingman to my father on several occasions and he is adamant his mark M was black, not the dark plum colour depicted on many models!
My father said his was a blue/ plum and was highly polished for more speed and would change colour in different light!
