I try to install UltraPack201_Client.exe
« on: April 19, 2013, 11:56:10 AM »

This is what happens when I try to install UltraPack201_Client.exe
It is looking for data cab 2 on a disk, data cab 2 is not on my 1946 DVD

Of course it's not. It's supposed to be downloaded from somewhere...
Anyway, Torrent is the best choice to download such a large stuff. Don't know if there is a still working link in the Web. Try a Google search, if you don't succeed then you should rely on the available links to download it in nine separated files. Not necessary to say that it means more chances to dowload a corrupt file...

Good Luck! 8)

This might be a good start to run without the DVD

...and then try downloading and installing Up 2.01 like you did before. If that doesn't work, Zeb; don't lose any stripes over it. Browse around this site and keep asking. You'll get there in the end...

Hello dagwood , Thanks for all the info. I don't need the DVD in the tray for the game to work but I downloaded the il2fb.exe at the link you provided and backed up my original il2fb.exe then copied in your's and the mod folder you suggested and there was no change, I could not see the mod.
I have a version of 4.10 with an SAS mod that works except what I really want is for my P-61 and A-26 to work , everything else in that version works fine.
That is why I started over and re-installed 4.07

I've already done that. I installed 1946 from my DVD it is version 4.07m.
Then I installed 4.08m tested it , it worked then installed 4.09m and tested it, it worked too.  I did all the things that I stated in my post to dagwood.
The first time I tried the UP2.01 exe I did point it to the 1946 folder , that's when I got this message , setup can not find the specified path or disk please check that the proper disk is inserted or specify a new path. That happened no mater where I directed it to go. I am at a loss.

OK, please ignore my post above ( I removed it). Sorry to lead you astray, but it was wrong. I don't even use 2.01 any more, so I was trying to remember and I failed...boohoo for me.

Anyway, Here is what I just did today.

1) Downloaded ALL of the files (see picture below). -- I know you had issues with downloading from there, but it worked for me.  If you can't download it from there, try the other links around this forum.

Once you have downloaded ALL of the files,  save them somewhere separate from your IL2 install (I use a folder on my desktop).

2)Click the Ultrapack201_Client.exe.  It will ask you to specify your IL2 directory, point it to your 4.09 Install.   If you have all the files you need in THE SAME folder, and it should install correctly.

I can't explain it any other way than that. Like I said, that is what I just did, and it worked first time for me.

Good luck.

setup can not find the specified path or disk please check that the proper disk is inserted or specify a new path.
Certainly this message is the key to solve the mistery.
It suggests very clearly that the pack was adressed to a wrong place (inexistent?!)
Maybe you could post a screen picture showing the folder in which the game is located, as well the splashscreen you get when you launch the game.
Also, how many game instances you have currently installed? Different folders?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit:
I've just taken a look at the pics you've posted above. Your game is at C:\Users\DZ\Desktop\1946
Is it right?
But next window shows path C:\Users\DZ\Desktop\IL-2 Downloads
Think its a good idea to check the paths again...

I relabled the IL-2 root folder to IL-2-1946-4.09m to make sure I was going to the right place.
I just re-downloaded UP2.01 from this link

http://www.il2server.de/download.php

I attempted to install it, here is a screenshot of what took place.

Hmm...
Problem is always related to 2nd file! Assuming you did everything exactly as stated by Beeps, the only thing I can think about is a corrupt file.
Well, I've found this:
http://www.esquadrao-jager.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1039
The site is in portuguese, but torrent link seems to be still alive!

And here is another site which offers the same stuff in repacked files (requires registration)
