Battle of Britain-era JU88
« on: April 21, 2013, 08:51:47 AM »

Hey all,
Simple request for a battle of britain-era Junkers JU88? At the moment, afaik, we only have the A-4 as the earliest variant, when the A-1 and A-5 served in the BoB.

The A-1, for example, used 1,200 hp Jumo 211B-1 engines, and had shorter wings than the A-4. It also had a single rear-gun;

Should be relatively easy for a modder to fix together I suppose, would be a nice little addition to my upcoming missions pack.  :)

Dear Alotef,

Truly a worthy project idea , and in my opinion one of the key aircraft missing from the early WW2 era.
Not to be a broken record , and for other requesters than you as well , please take the time to skim the titles of requests that have previously been made. The more redundant requests , the more likely good ideas are to be buried deep within the requests thread. If you would skim the titles in the requests section ,
you will see that on page 30 there is a request I made for more variants of the important Ju88 series on Oct 13, 2011 ,

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13356.0.html

and one particular to early war Ju88 variants on page 7 , originally posted on Dec 20, 2012...

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,175.120.html

I'm on your side ; I'd love to see either of these picked up as well.

My mistake, my brain misfired on that one.
Good request, kopfdorfer. Pity noone seems to have taken this one up.

No need to apologize, Mike, I just feel that redundancy in the (Requests) thread ( along with incomplete and undetailed requests) is one reason why a some good requests are missed by modders. You never know what my catch someone's creative attention , but if they don't see it it won't happen. Myself , I also try to make my requests interesting to read , combining the "I would like to see this aircraft" sentiment  with a series of reasons why it is interesting and or historically important. This stuff is what might actually interest a modder who hasn't previously considered a given aircraft ( or ship, tank, map , object) as a mod option.

Here's a beautiful Ju88A-1 in plastic - the key visual features are the reduced wingspan , the shape of the wing tips , and the simplified turret perspex and reduced number of defensive guns.

and a nice design series of drawings of the A-1

The current ingame Ju88A4 wasn't introduced until 1941. This baby flew in Poland , Norway , over the North Sea and the Channel during the Phoney War and in the BoF and the BoB.

Thanks for thinking of her , Alotef !

The A1 and HE-111 H is my favorite mounts in Clod online. I even manage to sink 2 ships from 2000 mts with level bombing

yeah, level bombing ships is a nightmarish task, lol.
i gave it up in favor of skip-bombing - it may be way more dangerous, but i'm pretty much guaranteed to sink at least one ship, every time!
der Fuhrer would be proud.  :D
