another case in point for planes exploding way too easy is if you have external tanks. In the game I landed a p38 with two ext tanks on an emergency strip (Test airfield 3) due to AAA damage and then taxied off the strip and the gear got torn off (slight height mismatch between test airfield and ground) then BOOM! I've seen first hand a Hawker Hunter landing on its drop tanks, also a Mirage IIIO have its main gear collapse and the 2 supersonic tanks smacked the concrete runway at over a hundred knots and there was no boom in either case

You can't even belly land.

Would it be possible to mod the invulnerable setting, that the parts of the plane would come off, but the main fuselage wouldn't explode?

I had a glitch when I installed Gurner FX back when I had my 4.101 install. There was no effects change and planes could no longer explode. For example, I shot off a Blenheim's wing and when it hit the ground, the wings and tail separated, but no explosion. It also bounced to an altitude of about 50 meters. I do have an idea though. You could open the hier.him of the plane and remove the line Seperable from all fuselage parts. Then when you crash, you still get a fireball and a burned out plane, but the fuselage would remain intact. You could do this for the entire plane, with the cost of not being able to shoot the plane down.

  • Landing just means stop flying, right?

Dataman-
I have had this happen to me as well, but (for me at least) it was a simple case of having realistic landings turned off, although it was quite a bit of a head scratcher for a while ;)
Good ideas though, +5
