Hawker Monsoon
« on: June 18, 2013, 04:14:52 AM »

A quick project, based on a concept described here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,35295.0.html

Based on the A6M2-N and Hawker Typhoon of course, so thanks to the original authors of:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1070.0.html
The intention so far is to replace the undercarriage, modify the code to floatplane settings and re-map the 3D parts from the zero.

Any chance of getting the late Typhoon? Canopy is a vast improvement over this one. BTW, very nice work.

What a great idea for a float ... I've never heard of it previously, but that's not surprising with so many planes made ...

Great choice ...

Probably not a bad idea. I'll get on to it.

Possibly aircraft that rhyme with "feet" and "well-wisher", if this project provides the required experience. And i'm not exhausted after building 3 planes in a row in quick succession. Speaking of which, i've sorted the 3D on the monsoon:

Just a touch of coding now.

Hi, mikoyan99. It looks like you've been working quickly, and got a good result. That's not always the case. You've obviously a got talent for this kind of work.

cheers

Have you thought about the FM.   Maybe you could start with the typhoon's and then sort of reduce it by assuming an increase in weight and drag.  Maybe you could make it similar to the land Typhoon ... but with it carrying bombs such as 500 or 1000 lb or 8-60lb rockets and their rails ... those floats would certainly have caused additional drag.  As a point of reference a Spit IX could do almost 410 mph at 20,000 ft. and the prototype float Spit IX under test did 377mph @ 19,700 ft, 353 @ 9,000, and 316 @ Sea level ... according to William Green's book on WWII float planes.   I would assume the Monsoon would do something similar as the standard Typhoon was faster than the Spit IX at low levels.

I'm really looking forward to flying your creation, keep up the good work.
