For some reason most guncam footage show the germans flying is mostly strait with small curves.... why is that?

There are many factors...

-If the Axis plane and the Allied plane are both pulling the same g forces in a tight turn... The plane in the aiming sight will look stationary

-film editors wanting a more dramatic film only showed the "kill shot."  They edited out the tight turns and loops where one or two bullets winged the enemy... What you end up seeing is a shot-up injured plane unable to turn anymore taking the final hit.

-lots of these films are from the end of the war... Meaning that the Germans aren't flying new aircraft from the factory... They are likly "war weary" and unable to pull excessive g's.  Fuel is not refined and the plane's engine is stumbling, not putting out enough energy for excessive maneuvers.  Pilots are new and not well trained.

A note on the not well trained part....

I am flying a Luftwaffe campaign, on the eastern front early in the war. I was flying an intercept mission against 4 IL-2 and 8 I-15, with I think 2-4 I-16 cover.

Anyway the I-15s broke up and headed in different directions as my flight dove for them. I locked on to one and began my chase.
He made one or two hard maneuvers to try to throw me off, but I was on him like glue. then he leveled off and I closed to about 400 meters. Just before i pulled the trigger....

He bailed out!
I hadn't taken a shot yet and there didn't seem to be any damage to his aircraft nor did any of my wingmen shoot at him in the first pass.
Is this a actual function of the AI depending on the skill level,
Cuz on the flip side of the coin I had to chase this one I-16 that had a smoking engine all over the sky, jinking and turning, and I swear to god he dove and knife edged between two hangars to try to lose me!
