New target object that allows to capture bases
« on: July 04, 2013, 05:52:59 AM »

Hi !
Now there are target objects like " destroy" or " recon" in the FMB .
I wish there were also a " capture " target object , that allows to capture ennemy base .
It would be invisble in the game, without collision box , and put on a base .
It would check if an ennemy plane rolls upon it ( and not fly upon it ) and , if yes, this base would be captured .
Then a message would appear on the screen ( like " Blue has won " or " base captured " ).
The capture area could be set by a radius around the object .

Advanced settings would be to choose the  aircraft type that has to roll over the object , and the time duration it has to stay on the object ( for example : 30 seconds ) , to achieve the capture .

This would be very useful for online players, and allow a new kind of epic missions and campains   :)
It should work in HSFX6 and UP3 , please .

-possible issues : the capture should not work if a planes crashes on the capture object ( because some players could try to capture by crashing on the object )

yeah, wait for that rather -we(SAS) are offline based, and i doubt very much any modders would try to get something like this compatible for online.

I think this is highly unrealistic aswell! Areas aren't captured by Aeroplanes but by Troops on the Ground... as if landing on the enemy base would determine the fate of a whole combat area...

That's what the Daidalos Team is working at. Ground troops capturing bases.

Would be cool if paratroopers dropped by C-47s could capture a base.

Actually, we were doing that with UP3 in MDS. As long as your ground troops made it to the base before the enemy AAA respawned, you could capture the base.

Yes ,there were moving front markers in UP3.

But I wish to capture bases with planes that would land on the base . A new target object is needed to check this .

Yes, it is not realistic, but this kind of missions could be funny  :)
