Alternative Jet Fighters, etc.
« on: July 07, 2013, 03:41:25 PM »

TESTED IN 4101m+SASModact 3.06

Hello Everyone! :)
It seems it is time to open a new topic for jet fighters.
To begin, I would like to introduce you to F104 Starfighter.
All credits to GJE52 and his 3D L-139/159
Unless of course CJE52 do not mind.
The previous version of the L-139/159 3-D model is here, but it is fully compatible with the latest version.

Version1.

Version 2.

changed:
Overall length
wingspan
The angle of the wing.

for XTF-104G:
Resized the fuel tanks
Changed the position of the landing gear

for XF-104A:
Removed the fuel tanks
added pylons at the wings_outs.

The previous version has been removed! Edited!

new link here:

Be Careful! The second name F-104 - Widowmaker! ;D

I apologize for the bugs in 3D, DM and TGA skins.

very cool, but to be quite honest, it doesn't really look that much like a starfighter, imho....

Nice project!

I'm thinking the same as Malone but since I like the actual L-39 development for a lot of modern low profile conflicts what if scenarios , this is really appreciated!

Since I'm away from home all the month can I ask if the tail hook is functional and allow carrier landings?

No GJE52 does not mind at all. Good luck with the project. I am very grateful for the original model from Pink_Tigger - which all of these are based on.

It is a good idea and probably worthy of its own slot so that people do not have to chose which one to install, but more importantly, to allow further/continued development and refinement by other modders. Many great aircraft now flying in the sim started life in this fashion....... interested to see if someone takes up that option, but somehow I doubt that will happen here  :(

I don't want to get me wrong, but F-104 is a lengedary plane from many aspects in aviation history...
This is a nice alternative "what if" version of L-39 & as such much appreciated for the work been put to it ! And many sincere thank's
for another jet mod. But calling it F-104 make's my hurt heart ... :-\
It doesnot even remind of F-104 just looking at it !

My real point is, I just hope to see F-104 in the sim, among F-4, A-7 & such same gen planes !
Best Regards ! Keep going ! & Thank you for your work !

thanks Bison! As an uber fan of the real 104, and still hoping to see it as a future mod, I'll gladly fly your franken, as the f-104 is probably my all time favorite jet fighter! She's so sleek and fast! Though, I am forced to agree with BT~Walker, it looks like an l-139 with a new tail arrangement. Lol. Not very like an f-104.

Still super glad for a franken jet fighters thread, very cool! Thanks for your work! I hope you keep on going with these!

May I make a super friendly request? The F-104 franken... if you have time... maybe stretch it lengthwise just a little. And shorten the wingspan(and thickness and angle) but NOT the tip tank size if possible. The wing would also need repositioning for the new length. This would feel more like the starfighter, but with the wing weapons, I know it may not even be possible.

Also. Is the new tail skinable?  I have an idea for a skin if so.  ;D

My greatful thanks for this starfighter! Downloading!

Gave it new fuel tanks! As soon as I can get my flickr working I'll post picks and offer a link if you guys like them and if I can get permission from their original author( unsure who). Only trouble is, they just load in place of the sabre ones,  :-\ so you have to turn them off to use 120 gal sabre tanks. They look much more Starfighter like!
