resizing maps?
« on: July 13, 2013, 07:06:51 AM »

Is there a way to resize a map?
I thought in two ways:
by cutting a piece of map. i.e a map with coordinates from Alpha to Victor (east to west)  and from 1 to 20 (north to south) Cut a sector from Delta to Hotel and from 5 to 12.

The other way is by shrinking the map, changing its scale.

Are posible? Thanks in advance.

Mark Bombsaway cut out a section of Baco's orginal Argentina Falklands map to just make the Falklands and a southern island   :D

Tideous though may as well do a new one to your liking from kevin ps tutorial

I started a new map. Just to learn how to do it. Im following kevinp´s excelente tutorial, but I have a question about scales.
I m trying to do a map, with a smaller scale than real one. I can t figure how to reduce the scale. In the tutorial says that 1 pixwl = 50m. This is what I have to change??? Thanks in advance.

Actualy BluMax cut that out for me. I wish I knew the way to do it as I would like to add some ocean between the islands on the BTM islands map.

Thanks Steve. :) I want to expand the islands map a bit and add some ocean around the Vin island map.

Hello Mark, i not can give for you help to make it a cut at map but if you did wanted to created more water ocean at Vin island map then you can try for you this solution, is easy and if not fixed it more water then is easy make delete

In confi ini file find this position  [ MAP2D ]     now place underneath this  [MAP2D_BIG]
                                            ed_m02.tga                                       OutsideMapCell =28
                                            ed_m01.tga                                       tile tile.mat
                                                                                                   sizeX 500000
                                                                                                   sizeY 500000
                                                                                                   ofsX  200000
                                                                                                   ofsY  200000

Be careful to copy exact all capital letters and minor letters and spaces or not will it work and then you can see now at map is massive big ocean surround island, you can play with the numbers 28 and 500000 and 200000 to reduce size at ocean and position of islands in ocean if not this does work is easy delete from confi ini and all will be ok.

You can do this for any maps that contain islands to created massive big oceans surround them and is so easy. Blumax he did teached to me this.

You are welcome Mark, this area ' OutSideMapCell ' is the area that you can see is at beyond the border of maps, at the game is possible you can to fly over this area and return at map but you not can place ships and planes and waypoints at this area. Now with this entry at confi ini you can open this area and now is possible you can to place ships and planes and waypoints at area and will work ok with not problem.

ofs X = offset x axis and ofs Y = offset y axis with this numbers you can alter position to islands at ocean, you can change this numbers at 200000, 300000, 400000 , whatever you want to alter position islands on x and y axis coordinates, with this numbers i did surplied the ocean becomes so big it can taked four hours to fly from one side to map to far side to map, this will work with land only maps also.

only problem now is because this area it is beyond border to you map it will not be seen at map_c or at map_t and so to apply work at this area can only be done with FMB+
