I never meant any disrespect to carsmaster; he has created many brilliant mods which I enjoy every time I play IL2 again, and i thank him A LOT for that.
It's just that this decision came out of the blue, I have no clue what's going on, and I am very sad that he had to come to this decision. If Carsmaster thinks that people are not interested in his mods I want to tell him he is mistaking; I think a lot of people enjoy his mods and were hpong for this one.
If there are other reasons for discontinuing this mod then I am just sad, but no hard feelings for Carsmaster: I wish him all the best always!!

Carsmaster isn't the "typical" modder as you know them. Look at his 24bit mod wich allows us to have 2048 Skins and maps textures. He changed some of the games DLLs to make this possible. I know only a few guys who can do this, ie PAL and Storebro. So he made this kind of "basic" mods to allow other modders to mod and improve the game with a new standard. And his 2048 HD mod has become a new standard here.  ;)

I thank him for all his efforts with all this extraordinary mods he made.
We can't praise him enough.  :)

Let us look forward what he makes next.  ;D

Also maybe a shift in perspectives and motivation maybe one day brings him back to this area.
In any case I love the hi res mods.

I couldn't agree more.  I am grateful to carsmaster for his incredible and farsighted efforts, every time I start up the game.  The only wages modders can hope to receive is a little thanks from those who enjoy their work.  Sometimes those few words can be very few and far between.

This, plus phasing out the 2D sprite-stack forests and replacing them with custom tree groups, could get us in range of near-CLoD visuals...
YES!!! I agree I'd rather have a combination of part photographic textures and part tree groups of a dense 2d forest. Plus something needs to be done about the visibility of the airfields (too visible from too far) and the straight line roads. Carmaster keep up the good cockpit work, you're doing a great job man!
