Monthly progress report on December 2013.
Building of bridges almost finished, their number reached "magic" 666.
Repaired islands on Vistula (Wisla) river.
Phototextures of the centres of Krakow, Breslau (Wroclaw) and Warszaw adjusted to the proper size and positions.

After the attempt at Estonia map, I tried again to autopopulate also this map of Poland, using the templates I made before (see Reply #132 in this thread above).
The programs worked well, but :
The number of individual objects placed by autopop pgm on the map is somewhere about 70000 (yes, seventy thousands). Actors management pgm crunched the inBuildings.txt file for more than 3 hours.
Never mind, the actors.static file was successfully created. But its size is over 31 MB !!!
In spite of this, the map of Poland loads into the game, even if slowly. It is even possible to make and save in FMB a mission, on condition that the waypoints are out of the visibility distance of any town.
Again - but: when flying over the town, Fps decrease horribly, stuttering occurs, this is not acceptable.

There might be several ways of remedy of this situation.

First, I can make new city templates, with much less buildings and trees there. But this seems to spoil the appearance of towns, which then can be as notes on the drum.

Second, I can try to make size of the town textures much smaller than at present, where it was based on nowadays  maps. Something such as at Estonia and Belarus maps. This is the way I can.

And third, possibly most promissing is the approach based on Skippers idea (he says it is that of Andrey) of dispersalfield.ru : to make the whole quarters of towns as a single Il2 object. This way the number of objects could be decreased drastically, with positive impact on Fps, too. Perhaps it would suffice if any of 3D wizzards make five objects, each consisting of five different default buildings, on a single side of the street.
Unfortunately, I cannot yet to do it by myself, so I am calling anybody for collaboration.

Uzin, check those 1940's maps I told you about. The size of towns and cities in that era was far smaller. But then make the size of the city / town about 2/3 of the actual 1940's size. That way, you can keep stuttering and load times down.

I have been working on the Central Ukraine map for several months and my actors.static size is still under 5MB.

Even if I add a lot more villages, I can keep the size under 6 MB. It takes about a minute to load in FMB, but that's the only slight problem.

I'm completely ignorant in this respect, but perhaps it helps to take a look at the Ardennes map of Cyberolas? There aren't that many buildings on it, but it still looks grand. Your maps and those of Cyberolas are my absolute favorites, Uzin.

Great work Unzin ;) We are waiting for this one with crossed fingers ;)
(Befeore I say something about your work sorry for my english)
Between Lodz and Kutno there are also Zgierz (small city) Ozorkow, Aleksandrow Lodzki, Leczyca, and a lot of small villages. There is a railway from Lodz, to Zgierz. If you want I can send you a scan of actual map of this area, from Road Atlas it's from 90's, I live in this area so I can help you a little with the Bzura river area ;) It would be great to fly in P-11 over my home village ;) .
What's more I can't find Legionowo, Pruszkow and Modlin near Warsaw, especially the last one is very important for map - there was so called Fortess Modlin, and HQ of one of polish army's in September 1939.
According to this one: http://s734.photobucket.com/user/Uzin_2009/media/map_aitfields_zps8e94dcc9.jpg.html
There should be also backup airfields near Plonsk (Szpondowo), and many others - in next few days I can prepare a list with screens from google maps, I think it should help you with the job.

January Progress Report.
As I mentioned above, applying of pgm Autopop to the towns in Poland which size was estimated according to nowadays , led to actors.static size above 30 Mb , what is considered not feasible in Il-2 .
After seven attempts, each time using Autopop, I downsized that file to acceptable about 3 Mb . (I hope I shall not forget how to use the Autopop  next time, lol.)
Then, after partially cleaning the rivers and ways from Autopop artifacts, I tried to populate manually the historical centres of Breslau (Wroclaw) and of Krakow, using phototextures of the present time. I used only default and everywhere available objects and their franken compositions . The results are given below:

In February , I am going to populate manually the phototexture of the centre of Warsaw. Only then I can get to building the historically looking airfields, the essence of the flightsim such as Il-2. And then, almost neverending flat ironing the map of bugs begins, primarily according to the notes of betatesters.

@Ceslaus:
I would be very grateful for any additional info you can offer. As for smaller towns and villages, I can include them according to the requests, especially if there are important landmarkers there. But it must be bore in mind that the number of villages is so great that not all can be involved, otherwise the work will not end in a reasoneable time. The other point of view is, that data of 1939 are more relevant than those of 90ies. Nevertheless, even small vilages might be included, if they are significant: so I placed there Blizna, the village where there was SS-Uebungsplatz for A-1, the  rocket testing site.
