right, keep digging up the dead, Malone....  :D
having been absent from the forums since v1.01, i now face a little confusion with the instructions for the latest updates.
if someone can explain to me exactly what's going on here, i'd be most grateful -
in the first post instructions, i don't understand the following:

Quote
V1.6:
Added new default texture (courtesy Edlor) and added ten010's 3D updates.

V1.7:

Sorted broken float bug - thanks to CWatson for the solution!

Assumed to be incompatible with ten010's update - so i'm unsure if this will work with the catapult launch for now. You have been warned!

v1.6 says it adds ten's updates. does this mean the catapult patch is included?
it doesn't say, specifically...
secondly, the next update, v1.7, which is the one i've apparently downloaded now (even though the readme says 1.5...  o_O )
says 'sorted broken float' which sounds good -
but then the very next thing it says is 'incompatible with ten's update - unsure if this will work with catapult...'
i have a good grasp of the english language, but this is totally confusing and unclear to me.
can someone tell me, definitively, what the hell this means?
does 1.7 undo 1.6's updates, or what...?
do i still need the Catapult fix or not?
if not, great - if yes, then what exactly is my next step....? add the catapult fix? if so, do i need to... ah hell, it's actually so confusing to me, i don't even know what question to ask here. lol..

and finally, at the end of the first post, it says this:

try it for yourself, and you'll see that reply #103 in the linked thread consists of the following comment by Gumpy:

Indeed Zip this is great thanks.

which doesn't help at all if i'm interested in taking a look at the Field Mod version (which, btw, is again in the old v1.01 thread, which is what i'm currently using, so i don't even know how relevant this is to the 1.7 version, although as it's mentioned in the 1.7 post, i would guess it's valid)
ultimately, with all these vague instructions, i am utterly lost as to what i'm supposed to be doing here or not.
when i last used my Kingfisher v1.01, i had the Catapult fix and it worked perfectly off the Iowa.
now, without having changed anything since then, the catapult function no longer works for me.
if i try to set the Iowa as takeoff 'target' for the Kingfisher, nothing happens. it doesn't 'see' the Iowa.
what i'd ideally like, is to have a working, catapult-capable KIngfisher.
anything else, such as skin issues, is secondary to me. i want the catapult functionality first and foremost.
if some kind soul would shed a light on these confusing issues, i'd be super grateful...  :)

Hi ! The zip_comic1 post with its DL link for a version with working gunner was suppressed shortly after, I don't remember exactly what happened. For what I remember, version 1.5 was the last stable one, but no more available anywhere I've looked. Version 1.7 (the available one, with 1.5 in the ReadMe but v1.6 and 1.7 mentionned inside) ) seems to have lost the catapult ability (it crashes on Iowa's deck at mission start) ; the only working trick I've found (in my 4.12.2 game) is using the FM from version 1.1m (for 4.09) by Epervier which works well on Iowa's catapult...but don't have gunner.

hmm..... okay, thanks mate - it all sounds a bit half-baked, then.
guess i'll just remove it completely, as i don't see the point in using mods that only have semi-functionality.
a pity, as this 'should' have been a great mod plane.
it seems to be more common these days, that some modders just leave half-finished mods posted up.
makes no sense to have done all that hard work, just to leave it in a half-done state.
thanks for the feedback moving on... ;)

Sure... I'm currently trying to build campaigns for CUP using this plane, and it took a little time to have a 'satisfying' compromise  :D For now, I can live without gunner if the catapult functions well.

Yes, thank you SAS~Epervier !

Your comment is not justified!
Remember that Word was made for the 410 and not for 412!
It is as if you were doing this comment on a Mod 409 that would not work in 412!
I do not will endure!
If you want a Mod 409 or 410 works for your 412, you find a Guardian Angel 412!

Gabriel, all good, mate - i meant no offense to anyone, especially not to you - it's just sad to see the mod left in this current state.
maybe i got a little worked up as i've seen several similar examples recently, and if i can't understand what's going on with the updates, and dead-end links, i shudder to think how any new members must feel.  :-X
and it doesn't reflect well on the forums as a whole, to have mods left like this, where there is no clear indication of the current state, and  i have to post and ask to find out exactly what's going on.
of most concern to me was the points in my first post here today, the last was just frustration to see this situation again.
if a mod is obsolete, then that's fine, it should however be reflected in the thread.
in htis thread, there are comments of it working well in 4.13 even, so i'm not that far out of line to think it should work with 4.12, surely?
not to mention it is clearly marked with a 4.12 icon, so i don't understand your reaction....
obviously it's not a good idea to be away from the forum for several months, otherwise i might have had some better influence on how this turned out...
anyway, i have bigger issues to deal with than this, so as i said, moving on.   ;)

The icon 412 was added after the release of Comics.
It is not about the "normal" version!
You understand why I refuse to add icons to my conversions?
This mod is guaranteed for 410 only!
But I also recognize that many authors release their mods and do not support sufficiently displaying the first post.

1 - 'the release of Comics' being the one that doesn't exist anymore?  :P
2 - i have no idea what is the 'normal' version....
3 - yes, i understand fully...

4 - hopefully you can understand my confusion.... ;)

update - 4.12 icon removed, so that this discussion doesn't have to be repeated for the next new guy here....
