i know of the "second cockpit on the back" variant. The ugly one.
that right there looks like a much better solution. less drag, less weight, less complicated. just a dude and his radar scope giving instructions.
and it does not turn a "massive/big/ugly mofo" plane into something even worse.
Say, can you get rid of the Bombbay (closed) and install a fuel tank in there?
Jazz music is not possible i think. no room behind the Radar operator.

As for the F-104:
I am also a big fan, and the shots are great! Kudos..

For the disappointment:
I think fans of modded IL-2 will get quite some fun toys this year (maybe?).
An F-100D here at SAS in development, new WIPs (I look most forward to the Mig-21) and for those
interested at Histomod there is also an F-100D in earlier WIP.
My favourite jets of the 60s are the F-104(all versions) and F-5A-E Tiger II, which would be rather 80s..
