I've flown Strutters over the cold wet mud of Flanders many times......
To fly them over the warm Aegean sea is a first for me.......

Russian Air Force bomb Urmia 1915













These Russian flyers were extremely skilled & courageous........

To take off in a Voisin III with full fuel tanks and 6 Pud F's is an achievement in itself
To navigate across the vast wilderness between Tabriz & Urmia and back extremely difficult
The Salmson M9 is a sound engine but here it's operating and the very edge of it's range & reliability

Chapeau to the Russians !     

Many thanks to Nero for this mission....I'm looking forward to flying some more on the Persian Front
