A Spitfire XII knocks out a low level raider over the East Anglian countryside.

From mid 1942 the Southeast UK was subject to intense hit and run raids, primarily carried out by FW-190s. Fighter command, hard pressed to intercept these raids, began to search for new high speed aircraft to counter this threat. Though several prominent aircraft rose to the challenge, none were as famous as the remarkably versatile Spitfire. Rushed into service in 1943, the Spitfire XII, with its Rolls Royce Griffon engine had the ability to run down every possible low altitude raider with the exception of some boosted Fw-190s.

On a side note the game looks awesome in openGL. that said, this is an edited screenshot.
