@cgagan: Looking at your great efforts and fantastic results in editing the screenshots, may I additionally suggest the Camera Mod for Screenshots?
It gives you the ability to virtually put your camera wherever you want, without interfering with the rest of your game.
That way you can arrange the elements in your pictures even better, you might know for instance the rule of thirds when you compose a picture.

This of course doesn't mean that anything's wrong with the ones you posted, they look great!

Many thanks Mike for comments and suggestion; the truth is, I did try the camera mod once and I didn't feel comfortable with it. I shall certainly give it another try...

I did try the camera mod once and I didn't feel comfortable with it.

Me neither for the old versions.
Up to version 1.01 there's been a nasty directional vector translation bug in the mod which eventually lead the cam to act totally crazy once you moved it around and twisted it a lot.
That's been fixed in version 1.02 and ever since then, at least to me the camera acts exactly as expected, quite intuitive.
