Radio Navigation
« on: August 19, 2013, 09:56:44 PM »

Is it possible to put VOR / ADF radio navigation in IL2? It would be really cool to update the navigation and make it at least somewhat realistic. Also an update to the map so you can at least determine heading and distances. And change the wind speeds to Knots and be able to select between mph/kph/knots for aircraft speeds. Thanks!

mfisch2004, you must be fairly new to IL-2. There already is some modicum of radio navigation available to certain aircraft in the game. We have the Hatrake as well as NDB's. Take a gander at the readme for 4.11

We have been able to change the speedbar between KPH, Knots and MPH for quite some time now. Additionally we can also read it in True airspeed! The wind speed in the FMB is in meters per second and I'm afraid we're just stuck with that. Take the value for wind speed and multiply by 60, then multiply that by 60 again and divide by 1000 to get it in KPH. To get knots just divide it by 1.85.
