New version.

Added optional new textures and also optional install versions of the map folder.
All have two very little lakes around Reno.

And 2 of the 3 optional files sport a little "suburb" right east of the Reno Stead Airport.

Also I tried to make some tricks to capture the general look of the area, not to make it 100/100..but to get a feel for the Western USA.

The original textues where very slightly repainted and I added a new, alternative, less saturated and light brown set....to accomodate for the fact that IL-2 displays desertish areas rather poor at both noon and afternoon + evening. Either it looks correct at noon and less correct at afternoon and eves or the opposite.

For the reddish golden glow the default are cool aka for afternoon etc.

For the rest I prefer the new textures up to later noon.

Reno is just not that red, rather greyish brown, so I like the new versions. Also added an extra texture by agracier.

So 2 options: For textures and little changes around Reno, all in the readme..

You need the MapMods folder in "Put in your Mods or #SAS-#DBW etc folders".

It goes in whatever your mods folder is named.

Then choose one option of the 3 Reno map folders (really only small differences, I prefer the one with the new small village covered in a bit of wood at its southend).

Put that "Reno" folder in Mapmods/maps.

Add the all.ini entry if not yet existing. Done.

The rest is optional, don't confuse yourself, it's for advanced users.

From my list of mods I found a few which might be relevant for this map, but in general it should load with a clean DBW. Also in all other versions given you have all objects. Sorry, cannot help there too much.

Relevant for Quicks but should not stop them!

_08__Object_Oil_Well
_08__Object_Plane_v2.2
( 00_4_Realistic Airfield Lighting v1.5 --cannot imagine this has an effect..)

00vas_bird+smokes ...also not a showstopper I say.

For this map maybe:

AirfieldsGrey_KDP...should be in DBW.

obj_Palms..don't think so!!

objectAirfieldsPlates ..also rather unlikely to stop it, since DBW had all the relevant files.

Hope you enjoy. Feedback welcome, only not sure how fit I am next weeks or so..other than that will maybe come back.

PS:
I strongly recommend all users to try out the 2nd version of the textures shipping with this install V3.0.
Look way better IMHO.. :D Especially at 15.00-16.00, but I keep them for all day times.

This is a high rez tex downsized-by agracier. From his Woodlark map.
This is horribly edited-I mean the screen. ;) :D

Also kept in a high rez version of this texture.

Without edits ingame it looks like this

Thanks Boomer, coming from you this is a big compliment.
 :)
Still trying solving the lake's tendency to have horizontal black textures undershining when at low alt (and even higher for lake Tahoe).
If you ever try this map, take the last link and the alternative textures in it as those have one texture which really came in handy.

V4...mainly cured the buggy lakes by simply dropping them into Canyons lol.
Not most elegant, ;D..but it works. :)
You will have the option to revert to old elevations and stuff from backups inside the map folder.

Also this time 2 versions in one, no extra confusing folders. You get one map folder and two versions in this same map, one with less saturated and one with more reddish look and for friends of late noon and evening flights.

You can switch between the versions now ingame and also have Quicks for both.

Rest as readme says..

One last note:
The Renored map version has a different load.ini aka a few differently assigned textures and its own map_t.tga with very minor difference at the southern lake.
If you wish to nullify the different texture slots compared to the less red map, open:
loadred.ini

Change:

MidLand0 = Renoag1/Spain_1024_Mex_Desert_31.tga,2
MidLand1 = Renoag1/Spain_1024_Djibouti_07_22.tga,2
MidLand2 = Renoag1/Spain_1024_Djibouti_31.tga,2
MidLand3 = Renoag1/Spain_1024_Djibouti_07_2.tga,2

To:

MidLand0 = Renoag1/Spain_1024_Mex_Desert_31.tga,2
MidLand1 =
MidLand2 = Renoag1/Spain_1024_Djibouti_31.tga,2
MidLand3 =

Done.

Hi Thorsten -
the last link you provided for the Fallon base keeps directing me to my own mediafire account, and not to the link for the files...
any chance of another link, mate? or could i just use the Fallon base files from your earlier upload?

Wow Thorsten

So many updates  :D ;)

Your lakes approach is interesting some look like meteor craters   :D ;) :)

Levelling lakes all by eye in fmb+ if you don't like it the first time don't save and re do it again. until you like it then save just tedious work

your texturing very cool  ;D :D

your bases awesome  :D

you are now very good at editing a map  ;D

one from scratch maybe just a thought.
