Sorry I was thinking about AAM....

From MiG-21 manual

Quote
Kh-66
Wiki: The Zvezda Kh-66 (NATO:AS-7 'Kerry') is an early Soviet tactical air-to-surface missiles with a range of 10 km. It was intended for use against small ground or naval targets. The Kh-66 was effectively a heavy-warhead, beam-riding version of the K-8 (AA-3 'Anab') air-to-air missile rushed into service in Vietnam in 1968. The Kh-66 was a beam-riding weapon that was tested on a MiG-21PFM and entered production in 1968 for that aircraft. The Kh-66 was only an interim solution as it required the launch aircraft to dive towards the target to maintain lock on the target. Flight testing of the Kh-66 began in 1967 and it entered service on 20 June 1968.

Maybe you should select Kh-66 , point towards target , after lock fire it pointing towards target up to impact....

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! I CAN'T LOCK IT ON!

:) I hope someone will find the way how to lock :)

the other day when I tested, I had sounds and everything. inbound to target... switched systems to Kh-66... hit "B" to arm or engage the missile, where upon I immediately got the radar "scanning" sound, as if I were using the R3R radar guided missile... at a certain distance to target, I started getting loud, clean, "locked" tone... I fired the missile... it tracked perfectly and boom goes the dynamite

yesterday, I tried it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke... same map, same loadout, same aircraft, same approach to the same target... this time, it didn't give me ANY sounds... after two passes with no radar or lock sounds... I came about for one last pass... this time, I made sure I had the kh-66 selected, and, using "B" again, I set the arming mode to "AUTO" and I watched the messages to the right of my screen. As soon as the message flashed up: "Kh-66 engaged"...  I fired one missile, it tracked perfectly and boom and so forth...

so I have been able to get mine to work with and without sounds.. maybe your sounds are not playing but you are getting lock and just don't realize it? worth a shot id say. hope it helps..  :)

Thanks for the add-on of IL2's sky. These Mig21s would certainly be a violent killer in IL2's world
I installed this mod several weeks ago and when I tried to test them in my game, I found that as soon I get airborne the game will quit and exit directly to desktop. There's no problem as long as the plane is on the ground....
I test the planes on version 4.10 and I've installed DBW1.71, SAS Engine hot key v2.6, Jetwar v1.3, I think i've installed all the mods required for this mod but there still goes the problem. >:(
Really don't know what's wrong with it, so any suggestion? I would really appreciate anyone's help! :)

wplusaf, as always, without any extra info, such as error logs, it is almost impossible to help....

You might need this mod linked below  ;).
After installing it, we can help you identify why the game crashes.  Maybe a texture compression issue e.g.
Or a general memory issue or simply a wrong placed line...with that mod, chances are good you get them running.

Really sorry about that because I don't where to find the so called log, is it in the root folder of the game? and what's its name?
I only have 3 log files, "eventlog.lst", "initlog.lst", "log.lst". And I don't understand the content in them.

when we ask for error log, it is almost always the 'log.lst' contents we need to see.
if it is another log file, we will ask for it by name - always assume the default as 'log.lst'.  ;)

THX for that but I think my log file is too large, about 2M and I'm having trouble post all the codes here, can you tell me which part of the log is vital for defining the error?
best wishes!
