RAF Bomber Command Fortresses Mk-1
« on: October 08, 2013, 04:44:38 PM »

Made these some time ago and forgot to upload... So without further ado... here to assist in the defense of Great Britain: I give you my RAF Fortresses!  :)

These skins are based on photos and artist renditions of an RAF Fortress Mk-1 code: AN530. I decided to do both versions, to offer greater options.

INFO: mostly paraphrased from wiki... ;D

   RAF Bomber Command Flying Fortress

In the Beginning, RAF Bomber Command was very short of bombers, and
desperately needed heavy bombers in particular, with both long range, and good payload.
We the US, always generous, sent a grand total of 20 B-17C Flying Fortresses. .... 20 ....

Despite the small number, Bomber Command put them right to work, attacking enemy shipping, and Mainland
coastal fascilities, but the bombers were largely ineffective. Hitting the targets from high altitude proved
difficult, and when resistance was met in the air, the bombers defensive layout was proved inadequate. On top
of it all, there weren't enough of them present.

This valuable small scale combat experience led to many refinements of the B-17 design, refinements seen
in all models from the E onward.

The Bomber Command B-17C were externally identical to the B-17D in layout, and dimension, except that
all B-17C included a pair of external single bomb racks, just centerward of each inboard engine. These were
removed from production B-17D, but included again in later B-17 types.

4 skins included: 2 marked, and 2 unmarked for mission building.
Credits: Template by JARINK, which also includes credits to Shooter, so many thanks to those guys!
New RAF related layers and markings by me, Fresco23

VERY IMPORTANT: These skins are in 1024x1024 size. HOWEVER, due to my photo/editing software being stupid all of a sudden, and causing color distortion upon saving, I took a different approach to saving them. They are 1024 size, but are in 24 bit depth.
This allowed the color to stay true, but I believe you will also need the HD textures MOD enabled in order to see these skins. They DO work. I promise. ;D ....there IS a bug.... such as very rarely, I will select the skins, and instead of showing up in the window, the aircraft will turn white. When I run the mission, the correct skin shows up anyway, so I guess its not a huge issue. Just don't panic the first time. LOL

I hope these are useable for you guys! And I hope you like them.
Thanks a million!
