Hello again, I have a question about the known accepted resolutions when using Modact and Visual mod 8. I seem to not be able to use my native PC monitors resolution (1680 X 1050) or my 3d monitors native res (1920 X 1080) only res above 1280 X 1024 thats allowed s 1600 X 1200.
When mod-select is set to no mods it allows my native res but not if I set to modact ?. any ideas here?
Nice mods though...even in 1280X1024! But no stereo (other than red blue) on my 3d monitor needs to be native res of 1920x1080 to work properly.
Darrme,
the way you explain your "troubles" doesn't help to understand your real "problem" and I have to infer. Please always take in mind that the most exact you are referring facts the most chances you have another person who is not you can understand what is going on.
Most of the things that you don't get were explained in several instances about this MOD and about other stuff, but I agree that probably that information is not all together to easily get it.
"No stereo (other tan red and blue)" doesn't seem an objective and balanced explanation, because before that you state facts as general and only in a (comment) you slide the idea that in fact you have stereo, the only thing you don't effectively get is full coloured stero in a 3D Monitor or TV. It is a big difference!
Stereo means something different for each eye giving you depth perception. So anaglyph (Red/Cyan, Green/Magenta, etc.) IS STEREO. So please don't make statements as "I can't get the MOD to work" because it is performing its duties.
And now why you don't get your goals fulfilled in spite it is covering its goals without any fault:
-This game uses a rendering engine called OpenGL (learning never hurts:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenGL)
-OpenGL (and particularly the way it is used in the Il-2 Sturmovik) is not well suited for systems as nVIDIA 3D Vision, etc. That's the reason why those systems don't work.
-Establishing a MOD capable of coping with tens of different possible combinations of GPUs with drivers + software + external devices is possible, but extenuating, requires permanent investigation and development. I don't earn a living based in this MOD.
-The most direct, efficient, cost effective and universal solution, a one that required a lot of investigation and effort, that works practically in any case with very unexpensive devices, is the Anaglyh (coloured Stereo).
-Stereo TVs normally reproduce stereo contents by themselves (with a media player) driving its alternating frames engine. Using them with computers require devices like 3D Vision glasses or software solutions (paid) like 3DTV Play that delivers through HDMI the signaling required to alternate frames in your TV or fully stereo google monitor. The code is not open for none of these, video card companies are quite greedy and try to make profit on every possible feature.
So there is a "very brief and crude" full color alternating frame mode in my MOD which is not fully functional but some people stated that had worked in stereo TVs for them.
The MOD as itself (for what it offers) doesn't have any resolution restriction. Me and many others use it in Full HD 1920x1080 and as it was explained before to you in higher and lower resolutions too.
I hope it helps you to understand the situation.
Regards,
Pablo
