More a question than a request. diving submarines ?
« on: October 09, 2013, 06:51:57 AM »

Is it possible in IL-2  to create a submarine who dives away when it`s attacked ??

Ends  Oleg`s world  on the surface or is there a possibility to "submerge" a Submarine  ?

If not:  Would it be possible to workaround this limitation  and create fake submering submarines  (like for sinking ships) ?

If it is possible I am sure it`s a really complex task to do

Cheers

Very good idea. Fans of Coastal Command should be happy :)

I think BDU would be rather happy too if his Subs could dive away from a threat :D

They don't already?

I was flying a scout mission in a Pacific Tour of Duty and came across a sub attacking a merchant ship.
I was too late the save the ship as she already been torpedoed, but I made two strafing passes on the sub with my F4f Wildcat.

When I circled back for a third pass she was gone. No indication that I destroyed it, just disappeared. I assumed she dove to escape.

I have thought of this a few times.

I was thinking something along the lines of CY6's C&C mod, where maybe a surfaced sub could be removed and replaced with a submerged one? Also regards the submerged subs wasn't some work done to make them easier to destroy? Because at the moment i think you have to score a direct hit on the periscope to destroy it.

Its a shame Depth Charges have no real use in this game at the moment.

cheers
