Laugh if you may, but I've been playing V.08 with the AAA mods for many years, and loving every minute of it! Every Friday the stresses of modern life disintegrated in front of me in the shape of a JU.88, Bf110 etc. I was tempted to patch up to V.09 but the game crashed at 60% and thanks to advice from this forum the problem was fixed, but it froze at 95%. It seems that the AAA mods was the issue, so I uninstalled and re installed to my old V.08 level. One of the things I love about that level is the flyable Mosquito Biv - the most attractive aircraft ever to leave the drawing board. V.09 however offers so many attractive options, all I could ask for at this time.
You will have guessed by now that I am not an accomplished gamer but my question is this - can I reload my disk to another file and patch it up to V.09 and add the mods that this community have amassed and still access the old file and hence my beloved Biv? I am really that unknowledgeable on these things! Sure that IL2 is the best in the genre at whatever level though.

Falconidae, yes you can.

You can have as many seperate installs of IL2 as you have room for.
Your B IV is available in the latest version 4.12.1 too

You are in the right place if 4.09 is as far as you want to patch your game.

you're missing out on some awesome mods, and as mentioned, you can have as many installs as your hard drive can handle.

I'm sooo bad at this! I can't even find the Modact file - the one I find says it is not supported and get diverted to some patch download. Assume I am doing something hopelessly wrong - any views? Please

I would suggest to install UP 2.01 on 4.09m: it includes Mosquito Mk.IV, as well as many other non-stock planes, and a lot of other improvements. It does not require, like ModAct, that you install one by one the mods, risking compatibility issues.

Just this morning I found a couple of sites still offering it, you could try them:

Are you a member and logged into their site when you try to download the files?
I just tried all of the UP2.01 links on their site again and everyone of them came up with a 404 error for me.

Sorry, you're right: I too got Error 404 trying to download.
