I say lets leave ole Union Jack alone, it's recognized all over the world....we Brits love it, the rest of the world hates it.....and us.......we all know where we stand and it works just fine!

Again... long live King Alex the First.......let his BraveHeart cry freedom, put the crown of Scotland on his head......but hang on a minute, who's gonna run his banking system, hold the purse strings, dictate his taxation rates and organise his defence?.......oh yeah ...Britian of course.....not exactly freedom then!.....so no point in changing the flag then!

Flags are indeed a transient representation when the things that they represent are not respected. I for one have a deep respect for what the Union Jack stands for. It represents the great empire and the ideas that gave birth to my own country. I'd hate to see it go. Just one Yank's $.02.

Olde Englishe folk lore says you can tell the clan of a Scotsman by putting your hand up his kilt - if he's got a quarter pounder, he's a McDonald

Well....sort of!.... Bravo the McDonalds are the largest of the Scottish clans, if you want to go right back in time then you will find that they originated from the islands, mainly the Hebrides and founded by Domhnall Mac Raghnuill who was descended from the Vikings and went to war with the Scotts and settled the Highlands.....you can take this further back a few generations but this was the point that they came to the Scottish mainland.

You are descended from Norway and mixed with the ( then Gaelic ) Celtic peoples of Scotland to become known as a Highlander......you are Bravo McDonald of the clan McDonald......there can be only one!......you are from a proud warrior race my friend!........unfortunately now linked with making hamburgers.

Let me make some slight corrections (professional habit as a historian). The Union Jack was introduced not by the Tudors but by king James I (previously James VI in Scotland), the first Stuart monarch and a Scot! And, yes, Guy, the Mac Donalds had a long standing feud with the Campbells

You will be happy to know then, Bravo that our country was founded on British ideas dating back 900 years. The founding fathers were Brits fighting a German king and his hired henchmen over distinctly British ideas that dated back farther that Britain.
