Ivo;
you don't need attach/detach. Once you have done what I indicated previously that's all you have to do.
The 'set' function tells your aircraft that it is taking off from the carrier. If YOU are the pilot, then simply start your engine, release chocks (you MUST do this as the chocks lock you to the deck).
You may have to set a key in your controls for "chocks-in", "chocks-out".
"Chocks out" releases the aircraft to move.
So.....
If you are sitting in your plane on the deck,
1. Flaps down halfway (personal preference).
2. Start engine.
3. Rev it up to get the engine up to speed before you move (it helps to get moving quicker on the deck)
4. When you are ready, release chocks and your plane will jump forward (be prepared to use your rudder to keep the aircraft straight on the deck)
5. Pull stick back (not too hard) when you are at the edge of the deck and you should be flying (get your landing gear up quick as you can).
Note: There are a couple of practice missions in Single Player for carrier take-off and landing.
One of the lessons, the carrier is stationary which makes take-off very difficult as there is no 'wind' across the deck to help you lift.
Once you are good with takeoff you'll find that landing is tricky and takes practice!!!
Good Luck.
