Operation Desert Storm: "Winds of the Storm" 1993 US Air Force
« on: October 30, 2013, 04:18:31 PM »

I personally knew two Officers in this Video, LGen Horner and Col Efferson

Col Effersons A-10 Langing after Battle Damage

Col Bobby E. was my Wing Commander and Friend. Even his Son was one of my Pilots! He's a Texan too!

These are all Guys who were in the 926TH TFW from Belle Chasse Louisiana, I helped them Pack to go to Desert Shield!!! 8)

Both Vids sure do bring back some good times & memories for me, "Not the War", but what I used to do for a living! I enjoyed my job in the USAF very much!!!

How come he's landing an injured bird still carrying ordnance under the wings, and with a damaged landing gear too? Isn't it rule #1 in such situations to ditch everything and come in clean?

In any case it takes balls to bring in a plane with gear shot up like that.

Well, He is a well known Seasoned Vet Pilot, even flew Combat Missions in Vietnam. If he thought he can bring his Craft Home he will, and did! Hats off to you Bobby!

BTW, only GPU Bombs are worth  jettisoning, But when you cant, you bring em home. Mav's and Sidewinder's pose no danger on an emergency landing, as well as his ECM Pod! Bobby did right on this Landing!!!
