These look great. I tried to get them to work in 4.12 but no go. Should they work or is it just me doing something wrong?

Tomoose look great, you did a great job but must be missing some input as I get them or not DBW or 4.12, or is that something I'm not doing well, leave me the names of the objects in the FMB but not pictures  ???

RAFbube/benson;
Have you added the text I provided to your Static.ini file?  That is the file that tells the game where the mods are and what they are called etc.

You shouldn't be seeing any names in the FMB but rather the Object number (there are no "names" in the OBJECTS part of FMB they are all numbered, for example my Matador truck is "Object 2448").

I created these for DBW but I don't see any major reason why they can't be used in the other mods.  I'm not familiar with how the other mods have their folders etc arranged.
In my DBW the file structure is as follows (your DBW folder may be slightly different);

C:/Program Files (x86)/IL2 DBW/IL2 DBW/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/#DBW/

Inside the #DBW folder are all of my mod folders such as Carrier Crew v5, and Fixed cowling engine & propeller
My RAF stuff is in a folder called Airfield_Eqpt.
Inside the Airfield_Eqpt folder is a sub-folder called "3do"(you NEED this folder) and inside THAT folder are all the mod folders such as Matador, Firetruck, Austin_Amb etc.

So (using the Matador mod as the example) I end up with a folder path as follows....
C:/Program Files (x86)/IL2 DBW/IL2 DBW/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/#DBW/Airfield_Eqpt/Matador/
Inside the "Matador" folder is the Body.msh, Live.sim, .tga and .mat files for that object.

I hope that makes sense and helps you out.

In your own versions have a look at where your mods are kept and do the same with mine but adjust the location accordingly.

Wonderful stuff, Tomoose. These are exactly the kind of objects which add so much atmosphere to the game. Keep up the excellent work. Even if we all don't express our deep appreciation for you efforts, we all are grateful for your work. This is an area of the game which has endless potential. Should you desire you could become the "Ranwers" of background enrichment items.

Now you just have to develop a thick skin to deal with everyone who is now going to deluge you with requests for their own favorite little pieces of the sim world.

Ahem... Please, could you consider Aircraft tractors, hydraulic fluid drip pans, rolling fire extinguisher carts, aircrew transport vehicles, mobile worklight generators, .... Well... You get the idea. ;D

Propnut27;
LOL, thanks for the compliments (erm, and the less than subtle request, LOL).  Actually, you are spot on.  I've always felt that the stick figures in the game although originally unimportant (considering when the game came out) are now a target for improvement given the advances in CPU/graphics etc.

I'm (slowly) working on more appropriate groundcrew figures.  They certainly won't be works of art but I hope a wee bit better than the existing stick figures and they'll add to a "busy" airfield.
I'm debating about the head part of the figure as including a nose and eye 'depressions' adds to the polys but I like the effect.
My only problem is getting time to work on them.

Some examples:

A WIP

And, believe it or not, something I did months ago but was told there were too many polys.

As much as many of us talentless players might want a particular object, you have to work at your own pace. Do the things that interest you, the things you enjoy creating. The ground crew figures are terrific. And the rolling fire extinguisher? What can I say.
We seem to think along some of the same lines.

Anything you feel like sharing with us will be welcome.

When I was in the Navy I was ground crew. First in an A1 Skyraider squadron, then in an A6 Intruder squadron. I well remember the multitude of gadgets and doo-dads that we had to service the planes. I mentioned the hydraulic fluid drip pans because the neighboring outfit flew F8 Crusaders, and those things leaked hydraulic fluid like garden fountains.

Best wishes for a long and successful career at modding these, often overlooked, but atmospherically satisfying objects.
