River texture with lots of trees.

IIRC is possible to add self generated trees to some textures, so maybe is possible to have something like that?? Will add a lot to the game as now computers are more powerful and we will be able to handle that.







So I'm requesting a river coast texture heavy populated river banks with lots of trees, will be great for those. Is possible?

Nice pics Darko.

Who ever made that scene why is the river so low? and why is the peer jutting out of the water?

I just usually use wood for that as in a recent project

So you are interested in like a hand painted tree area on top of a suitable texture for villages etc.

yes,it is possible with random tree's
it needs to be done on map_c.tga

just like different gray's on the black water produce underwater shoals for coral textures etc.
working the white(land) on map_c.tga with various greys can produce random tree's  ;)

the last picture is so weird... it makes no sense to me at all, because the water line indicates that the river is about 5-7 meters higher on the right side than it is on the left side and it actually flows on and above the bridge.

Scenery designer was drunk that day.

So is not texture related? it needs to be done for each map If I want to see it? Well I only need it in one map, so maybe someone will be able to help me.

About the pics guys this is for a game called Strike Fighters Project One, (first series) is now a old game but I think it shows Vietnam pretty well and it suited me to show you guys what I need, BTW when you're trying to bomb that bridge with a Thud at full speed you barely notice anything but the bridge and the AAA.

Well I only need it in one map, so maybe someone will be able to help me.

pretty easy to download the map_c tool and read the read me
it is not all that hard to do   ;)

experiment with it,and try and have some fun with it  :)

One can also use texture of the field type. The main annoyance with any of these methods is the tree pop up at about 1500 meter distance, it can be tolerated maybe with normal random appearace of trees on fields but with river which is a long 'object' the pop up is just looking so artificial  . If tree popup would be 2.5 3 Km that would really help but apparently no one knows how to change popup distance for auto-generated trees. The popup  may be made less annoying if the contrast between tree texture and the filed texture is not big but this helps just a little bit...

With the texture method you can work directly in FMB, map mode, just paint around river with the assigned texture.
If you start working with  whichever method you'll see there's some other tricky things and  it's difficult to solve them.
For example you know that with texture filling on the map 1 pixel=200 X 200 meter. That means that
 if you design your texture such that it will output a lot of trees in game (the blablafields.tree.tga image has a lot of white on it) the trees will appear on quite a large area around the river and sometimes as square tree areas, very annoying. However I just thought
this might work better when the river is broad enough...and when the blablafields.tree.tga is done in a smart way of course :o)
I did something like this, not that bad, but needs better ideas. Man,if only this tree popup distance could be increased!
