Those were fascinating Days.
too bad he had no HUD.
Imagine if he d gotten teh third Scooter...
back home the fourth one would have been alone!
what shock!
and 75% of the enemy Killed by a single aircraft... a Harrier at that!

Still...50%, and a 100% AAM kill Ratio is awesome.

"Jolly good Show!"?!!

Imagine I was there with a Norwegian Tanker passing it and landed in Buenos Aires while this was going on

be happy you were not any closer!
What still Boggles my Mind in the falklands war, is why did they not, at first notice - at least send a couple of Interceptor Planes there.?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falklands_War

Quote
( IAI Dagger )153 sorties against naval/ground targets by the two squadrons. Their lack of aerial refueling capacity severely affected their performance without any chance of manouvering over the islands. They were obliged to fly the shortest flightpath and had less than 10 minutes to find their targets.

the entire Article Reads like a Mashup from WWII - Air Assetts present but lacking Transport capacity... Fighters short on Fuel at the edge of their Range... pull fighters back to protect from bomber Raids...

Its Difficult to learn from Other countries mistakes - and Argentina is a long way from Europe.

"the brits will hold still, they won't come..." argument to protect a war that was designed to detour the attention from domestic problems.
Anaya was Nuts. have you ever seen a Britisher hold still under similar Circumstances... even the Guys from new Zealand offered help.
You Piss off London, you piss off a lot of other countries too. Facepalm material.

Apacheclips take forever buffering here   :-\...btw I have to agree to Gustav. I love the Brits, but there the admins tripped into shit.
I know a soldier who served in this war as a child (16) and he's traumatized till today.
Great chap he is, humble nice character.
That was a.o. war man vs man and bloody.
But if I have learnt one thing in life it is not to judge other nations or individuals and so I refrain from taking an arrogant posture. Never met a GB chap I did not like in RL.

My over riding memory of that war is the courage of the Argentinian Pilots.  They were brave men doing their duty, and doing it extremely well.  I will always respect, and remember, their sacrifice.

War is really about failed politics, soldiering is about fighting wars on the politicians behalf, because few of them have the kind of courage you need to fight a war.

May all you young guys (and girls) out there be excused that experience, play Il2 instead.

I hope not to ever hold a Gun on behalf of some failed old farts not getting their act together.
A gun when hunted down by enemies... and if i would, i would probably just let them kill me.
Who cares.
One in seven Billions, growing at a rate of 80+ Millions a year.
One silly dude... aint gonna make a difference wether alive or dead.

War is the ultimate failure.
Failure between humans, failure in respect of our Surroundings.
because nobody cares about the Birds and the Bees, Flowers and Trees... when we drop Nukes on each other.

Think about it, as you load up your 7.7 to 50mm ammo and prepare to open the Bomb Bay.
think about it, but not enjoy it too much.
