Focke-Achgelis Fa223 Drache
« on: December 11, 2013, 04:15:41 PM »

Next project:

My first proper helicopter - i'm probably going to use the Huey or Mi-24 as a base; haven't decided yet. Open to suggestions on that front. I'd like to add a controllable door gunner and nose gunner as well.

Please use he Mi-24 if you mean using the fm. I have found it to be the best of any chopper so far.

I think there's a YouTube item showing Hanna Reitsch flying one in a large hangar during a 1930s airshow. I look forward to seeing this one when the time comes.

cheers

Mi-24 FM, please, Matt - i have officially given up struggling to fly with the other choppers, including the Huey.
i don't have the patience to spend days just trying to fly to the corner shop and back without flipping it over, lol

It's been a long time since I expect this aircraft.
I'm not a hurry! Take your time!  ;)
Thank you !  :) :) :)

Cool, Excellent!
I have seen screenshots of this one around for the past 2 years.

Matt, ask around because this helicopter has already been created before. It was never released but
there were screenshots posted before. An already completed flying model.
I am not sure, but maybe it was "Melissa" or some other modder
from the Russian forums that created it.
I have also seen a RAF-Harrier Jump-jet already created, but none were
ever released. They are either still being worked on properly (FM stuff maybe), or have probably been put in
garbage because the artist gave up. I am not sure which.
I think that Ranwers was also involved in some of these projects. It was so long ago I
can´t remember now.

Actually that was another helicopter, the Focke-Achgelis Fa 61.
I believe we already have this model flying in the IL2+Mods game.

In 1937, Hanna was posted to the Luftwaffe testing centre at Rechlin-Lärz Airfield. She was a test pilot on the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka and Dornier Do 17 projects at that time. She was considered a very good test pilot.
Reitsch was the first female helicopter pilot and one of the few pilots to fly the Focke-Achgelis Fa 61, the first fully controllable helicopter.
Her flying skill, desire for publicity and photogenic qualities made her a rising star of the Nazi party propaganda. In 1938 she
made nightly flights on the Fa 61 helicopter inside the "Deutschlandhalle" at the Berlin Motor Show.

I just ahad a quick google - I can find oblique refrences from a couple of year ago, but no direct WIP or release details, so i'm going to assume that project is dead for now. I'll continue for now, and if anything does crop up, i'll either release this seperately or see about combining the mods.
