These are a handful of represantative pics I collected.
That's what I find so hard in IL-2 with regard to the lush forest on the nice pic on the previous page and the shots below.

Hmm that's odd.  Here's the body of text from that page:

"Sapuk Lighthouse

The Lighthouse at Sapuk at the eastern end of Weno is one the most substantial war related structures in Chuuk; a most imposing site with a marvellous view of the north-east pass. It was built by Japanese contractors in 1937 of thick reinforced concrete and operated during the war as an observation post and a location for a powerful searchlight. The location of the lighthouse was once the location of a fortified residence of a Chuuk paramount chief, therefore the area has traditional as well as World War II historical significance.

The World War II structure has three levels, the ground floor Command Post still has its tiled floor, and the upper level with tower, contains the steel rotating mechanism for the light. The light can be found about 100 metres down the hill, where it stopped after being pushed off the tower. A long flight of steps leads up to the light from the east. Jungle covers much of the surrounding area, which is said to contain the remains of generating equipment, support buildings, a well and an air raid shelter. The tower still shows the scars from the strafing inflicted by the British during their raids in June 1945.

D. Colt Denfield, who carried out a survey of the World War II feature in Chuuk, states that "This is an exceptional site complex when seen in context with the turret guns below it; together they form one of the best preserved defensive positions, not only in Truk, but in all of Micronesia."

The turret guns are four, 200mm Armstrong guns that were removed from the cruisers Iwami, Iwate, Nishin and Kasuga and are the largest coastal defence guns in Chuuk. The guns were placed here in March 1944 after four months of very hard work, to fire on any enemy ships using the north east pass. They each had a range of over 18,000 metres (11 Miles)."

Another map showing (only just) the location of the lighthouse at the extreme right.  Those four little squares in front of the LH might be the guns.

Zooom into the Google-Earth map to see location of the Sapuk Lighthouse and surrounding areas on the island...
It is the BIG RED DOT on the satellite-photo
http://mapcarta.com/27683790

I guess the cannons were very well hidden under the bushes and trees around the lighthouse. Great camouflage.

Mark, take a closer look at the lovely shallows on that island. I know you enjoy creating some great looking
shallows for the IL2 game. These aerial views will give you some nice ideas.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Read this interesting story about the island.
http://squishmon.wordpress.com/2012/07/08/sapuk-and-me-july-8-2012/
They got three stop signs, two police officers, and one police car.
The Federated States of Micronesia is broken up into states–Yap, Kosrai, Pohnpei, and Chuuk (often called Truk because the U.S. navy seamen couldn’t proounce “Chuuk”).  Each state is comprised of several islands.  Each populated island is broken down into municipalities.  These municipalities are divided further int0 villages villages.  I’ve been living in the Municipality of Sapuk, on the island Weno, in the state of Chuuk.  So I guess a municipality is sort of like a county in the states, but calling Sapuk a county is like calling the town of Stockbridge, Massachusetts as described in “Alice’s Restaurant” a metropolis. There aren’t three stop signs on this entire island, and I’ve only heard rumors that police officers exist. They’re kind of the Micronesian
equivalent of bigfoot.  I’ve seen some blurry pictures, but no one has ever captured one in the wild.
  ;D
Tourists in Sapuk are either lost or World War II buffs.  The school where I work was once a Japanese communication center/bunker.  On the next hill to the east of the school is a lighthouse which the Japanese built with slaves pulled from the Sapuk populace.  Plunked down on a hill in some family’s yard sits an enormous, rusted out coastal defense gun being slowly reclaimed by vines and bushes.  Down on the water is a dilapidated Japanese pier where ships once docked and today locals fish and swim.
The area is rife with relics from the war, and there are some people interested in seeing them. Today as I was reading on the porch, two different groups walked through to check the place out.  A Japanese tourist asked to take my picture.  It was all I could do to keep myself from chanting “We’re number one! We’re number one! Whose bunker is it now, b–ch!?!” But Superego came to the rescue and vanquished the evil Doctor Id.  I just smiled for the snapshot and returned to my book.
Thank you all. I apparently did have the entire complex in the wrong place.  Thank you Thorsten for the pics. Thank you Bee and Max for the info and maps. :) I was a little frustrated that I just had to move all that but its all good now. :)
@ Max, that map is from now. I'm sure the vegitation was removed back in WWII for full movement and line of sight purposes for the 200mm guns. Its probably just over grown now.
How do I add text to a map's text file? I understand the first set of numbers....." 207619 194965 " but what are these from?  "4 1 0 16"
 The enite line looks like this...207619 194965 4 1 0 16  I want to the lighthouse's location to the texts.
Thank you.
Mark, not sure what exactly you will add-yet from my little rusty memory, I added texts ingame IIRC - there is a "labels" or "text" option in the FMB+. So that way you can name towns, airports, cities and such.
Under the dropdown objects list IIRC, in any case within the FMB options.
Self explaining once you find it. ATM I have no FMB+ open, so I cannot post a screen. If I open one this eve, I can find it immediately.   ;D
