That looks perfect. **BIG APLAUSE**
A real great addition to the PTO side of the WW2 for IL2+mods.

Very cool project!
Note how the cockpit looks like similar later fighter jet designs with regard to its position forward on the fuselage. Among aerodynamical considerations this was also introduced for enhanced forward visibility IIRC from aviation books. ;)
Carry on Matt.

That's what I reckon - also, i'd imaging it puts the centre of gravity more towards the middle of the aircraft - better handling etc. Aerodynamically speaking - don't know what it would do; the boundary layer would be less developed that far forwards though, and more likely to separate (fully turbulent boundary layers are more resistance to adverse pressure gradients). That can't have been a major issue though clearly, based on the top speed!

After seeing the Secret Japanese Aircraft documentary many years ago this was always a plane that interested me greatly. Outstanding job, really love it!

I personally would now love to see the a carrier based jet R2Y2 version, but I suppose I shouldn't be greedy.

Still, some Shinano based Pacific '46 missions are just BEGGING to be made ;D
