Hello ladies and gentlemen, as everyone knows the IL2 1946 modding community is still going strong. As such the transport loving side of me thought that these 2 planes would be great additions to the game, allowing Berlin Airlift scenarios and possibly escalations which could start WW3. Furthermore with the lovely addition of the new Egypt and Middle East maps, we can recreate the assault on El Gamil by British Paratroopers.

Very good idea. Transport aircraft are quite often forgotten... :)

I know, it appears they are the black sheep of the modding community, everything must have guns  ;D

intriguing, these would be good as in the transport area the game seems to be lacking. the C-47 is a little too standard :P

Both of these aircraft are modelled very well indeed in FS2004. Manfred Jahn did the York (From memory) I forgot who did the Hastings, but they're both on Britsim, How easy or difficult is it to convert the MDL files, to IL-2 I have no idea, but with permissions, it might save a fair bit of work? During the Airlift, the Russians maintained very strict air corridors, and 'buzzed' incoming aircraft frequently to add to the already incredible pilot workload. A Berlin Airlift scenario would be interesting in it's own right. Nothing to shoot down per se, but plenty to do, and plenty of other aircraft to look out for! It would take a fair bit of organising, to simulate not just the airlift, but the atmosphere and workload as well. The C-54 was the major lift aircraft, as well as other types. They're all modelled in FS2004. Is it possible? Yes I think, but it depends on the work involved. It would teach IL-2 Pilots a whole new set of skills too :)
