Quick question-3ds 2013 export
« on: January 25, 2014, 01:47:18 PM »

I won't write that stuff around people usually write and go straight to the thing:

(1) How can I export model from 2013 into the form suitable for IL-2?
(2) How can I export model from 2013 in form readable by MAX 9?

to export from a later version of 3DMax to a earlier version is a pain - you need to pass throug the DBX format and therefore to use the export-import add-on - this means loosing part of the info - in practice you need to extensively rework the 3 model and remap it

I've not tested it yet, but...
how about "Autodesk .FBX" format?

I think FBX can keep smoothing/etc. between 2013 or 9.

If you have 3ds Max 2012 , Maraz exporter 2012 is usable and Max 2013 can write-out .max(2012) format.
So, you can use Maraz exporter 2012 on Max 2012 without any loss.

FBX of course not DBX! thank western! and no, by experience fbx is a traumatic bridge. I'm helping Hawkman finish his he59 and as we work with different versions we need to pass through FBX conversion and a lot of info is lost (but you're right smoothing is conserved)

Hey guys, does anyone  use 3ds Max 2012 or higher and Maraz? because if it is yes, I have a question about export clips.

I've always used Maraz with 3ds max 9, and now I'm starting to use 3ds Max 2012, and seems to export clips with Maraz in 3ds Max 2012, they have to be done  differently,  as meshes and not as dummies, I am right?.

Yes, you are. I  use a geosphere with minimun settings for clips And an arrow  made of flat triangles rotated 90 degrees for hooks wich need a direction.

Thank you very much champi ;), I already was thinking I was doing something wrong.
I'll have to make the clips differently in 3ds Max 9 and 2012,  or maybe in 2012 I will export them only with buggy-buggy.
