Looks like timber arranged for towing by a tugboat to a sawmill or paper mill. Common and cheap way to transport timber on water.

I was wondering about that, perhaps the map is meant to represent the pre-war look of the city.

No no, no pre-war look :o, I´m not going to give it to map - you can add it in missions files, can´t you?

Ah! No worries.  I do like a bit of a worn-in look on maps. ;)

Yes indeed: those things can be left to the mission builders!

That is no timber logs --Stalingrad was main fuel depot and that is oil tanks. War time USSR so often utilize railway oil cisternas without trolleys on waterways. Try to find video abt Ladoga supply route for Leningrad/St Petersbourg and you can see that.   Why on aerial photo  that is very delicious prey for Luftwaffe pilots.

I believe Greif may be correct, it is floating barrels on wood rafts... or floating large Oil or Fuel Cisterns.

Or it can also be Pontoon bridge parts, maybe made of wood like in the above posted photo by Uzin.
I found this photo... picture 19 of 43
http://incredibleimages4u.blogspot.pt/2013/03/the-russians-at-stalingrad-pictorial.html

It says....
As the main landing area near the center of Stalingrad came under increasing pressure an alternate landing
site on the Zaitsevski island was built. Here Russians soldiers build a pontoon bridge connecting the island with
eastern Stalingrad under German fire.
