A Fokker D.II is already a bit of a rare animal. This one has a nice face, complete with sharp looking pilot and doggo.

Once again, Thank you 8), photo number 2 reminded me of American pilots-volunteers, members of Kosciuszko's Escadrille.

Beautiful photos, Alfie, Thanks for sharing 8), although the view of dead pilots in WWI pictures is new to me.. I have certainly not seen enough photos. :-|

Always brings over the stark reality of WW I flying for me....these are photographs of highly advanced weapons....it's some times difficult to remember that this is less than 20 years after that little motorized kite struggled to make 50 kph over the sand dunes of Kittyhawk......

You are right and probably the most terrifying are the photos of the battlefields in France, plowed through thousands of missiles, after which these fields simply became a desert!
