This is not a problem but it does not seem right to me.
I have never seen a WW-1 air craft in flight but I have been working on engines for over 40 years.
One thing that I have learned was the when an engine has a to rich of mixture the exhaust smoke is always Dark.
When the engine is burning oil it is a light bluish white.
So the question is -- is there and easy way to change this? If not -no big deal.

I thought it was correct? Those two streams of smoke appear when the engine is running too richly. If your altitude is too high, and the engine isn't recalibrated for that higher altitude, the air's too thin for stoich combustion and the engine exhausts those two smoke streams.

Judging by your altitude in that picture, you have to readjust the mixture.... although it might not be modeled into the simulator controls for that plane. I think most old machines, in real life, had the ability to tune things like air-fuel mixture and even ignition timing.

I had mixture set at 80% and it makes no difference what you set it at - Its always dark.
You can fly at 100m and its dark- try it.

Some of these planes have no adjustment for mixture.

It sounds like a bug. Leaning up the mixture should make it burn clean again.

Either that or that particular engine always burned dirty... is that possible?

Most of the WW-1 planes have very dark smoke no matter if you lean the mixture or not.
To date nothing seems to help that is why I asked.
The Snipe is the only plane that looks right. A light white to bluish type smoke.
